“I find President Trump’s remarks about the Holy Father unacceptable,” Meloni said in a statement on Monday. “The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, and it is right and proper that he call for peace and condemn all forms of war.”

However, that pope said nothing about Iran and its terror campaigns over decades. It is too bad politicians are unwilling to do what is right for the good of their own country when their base is upset.

I see she called them unacceptable, but I don't see that she called them false. I agree that it is unacceptable that Trump's words about the Pope are true and accurate.

I'm not bothered.

It's up to each country's leader to say what must be said to keep peace in their own countries.

Disagreement isn't the end of the world.

Trump ripped her a new one personally today or yesterday too.

She brought this on.

He was already pissed at her, calling out Italy by name as a useless ally that doesn’t help.

After her pope defense, he gave her a nice mark.

This is nothing but a hit piece trying to divide.

And...This goes directly to the thread I started earlier.

They hate that conservatives are joining the Catholic Church here in the USA.

I stated this before:

quote:

For example, Obama gave the Iranians $1.7B in 2016 which aided in accelerating Iran's nuclear weapons program. Obama did not drop bombs on Iran. And let's say, for argument's sake, Trump never acted in Iran. Not last year, not this year. Now let's fast forward 5-10 years and no one has intervened with Iran, and now they have nuclear weapons. A nation that openly sponsors terrorists and funds them, is now protected by those nukes. And now, lets say they drop one on Israel.

What is Pope Leo's response? It is probably the same. But with millions dead before the tweet. So, should America act to protect millions of lives at the cost of a few bad actors, or should America react after millions are already dead? If we react, at least Pope Leo won't post a tweet aimed at America, absolved of any nuance. Sure, millions will be dead, but at least we didn't get tweeted at, right?

Thinking Catholics, know that when a liberal pope is speaking non-ex cathedra we all can disagree with what he says. The media does not understand that, nor does it understand Catholicism.

it is why we had the crusades and the reconquista. like muzzies give 2 shits about calls for peace.

They only understand one thing. POWER and being destroyed. Early church fathers did not put up with this BS and understood this. Pope Benedict called out islam. Then he received death threats from the "religion of peace".

Leo should be calling out iran and boko haram in nigeria killing christians non stop and any others all over the globe.

There's a very interesting, and a bit of a complicated, generational divide playing out here within the Catholic Church.

Catholic church aided the Nazi's during WWII. Helped a lot of the higher ups escape to Argentina near the end of the war.

Islamists don't want peace. They only understand power.

Yes! You see it?

There is an all out push (almost panic by globalists) to keep the status quo.

Look what Xi said today.

“The international order is crumbling into disarray,” Xi told Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday in Beijing

It is if you disagree with Trump or his MAGA ilk.

This whole Trump - Pope feud smells of that whack job Paula White.

It's because conservatives are flocking to the Catholic Church in the US and they see Trump as part of the reason.

It's two Popes of the Vatican II movement and an ever burgeoning push back against it, which is what I might assert is what is actually starting to draw folks back in.

It's interesting times.

I thought Leo might have been more of the bridge to that than the sledgehammer Francis wanted to be. That's looking less so at this juncture.

I keep looking at the parallel of how the WWII postmortem keeps identifying who did not intervene to stop Hitler early on and look at the consequence.

Now we have someone who is dealing with a similar bad actor in Iran and it is not pretty but the long term benefit is good for all. Everyone should note the reactions from the ME countries on this action against Iran. They are for it!

Is the Pope supposed to cheer on a pre-emptive war by a tantrum-throwing toddler? Every Pope has condemned terrorism and Francis called out Iran on more than one occasion. Is this war about Iran funding terrorism, nuclear weapons or bringing freedom to the people by shelling them into oblivion?

Trump is on an island... and the red hats are increasingly going back in the closet.

Leo has a job as pope to do one thing: drive power away from POTUS Trump. POTUS Trump has every right to admonish this pope for stepping into the political arena.
