I think the globalists are getting desperate and using the Catholic Church to try to fracture Trump support.

They just played Meloni and she bit.

Nor am I. Politicians gonna politic. The Pope should heavily delve into politesse if he decides touch a toe into politics. Otherwise he'll quickly be dragged from Marquess of Queensbury to Mud Wrestling. The latter will soil both robes and reputation. Hopefully it is a lesson taught but once and learned for a long time.

Leo has a job as pope to do one thing: drive power away from POTUS Trump.

It appears to be.

Why else would he step into the political arena?

As soon as I realized it was an American pope I knew the strategy was to neuter the POTUS. Just too damned obvious and certainly not a coincidence.

Time to tax them.

I was, perhaps naively, shocked how quickly and eagerly he was to take the bait. And all it took was freaking Axlerod.

Naïvety.
Let's see if he repeats the experience.

My guess is similar future conversations will be far more private, and any public follow up far more considered.

It will be telling. They took their shot and Trump didn't flinch.

Too bad Meloni did.

Do you expect a Muslim country to listen to a Catholic pope?

Trump ripped her a new one personally today or yesterday too. She brought this on. He was already pissed at her, calling out Italy by name as a useless ally that doesn’t help. After her pope defense, he gave her a nice mark.

It’s insane that we have people thinking in these terms. As if the POTUS bitching like a moron on Twitter against the Pope or foreign leaders is a substantive form of communication.

I think you massively overestimate the impact of Trump’s Twitter tantrums.

I can’t imagine any serious person caring about them.

Everyone with a brain (sorry that we are talking past you) knows that this first American pope was selected to peel Catholics from Trump support. It was way too obvious:

* Trump sworn in - Jan 20, 2025
* 1st American elected pope - May 8, 2025
quote:

Leo described Trump's words as a "threat against the entire people of Iran" and said it was "truly unacceptable."

While it's not unusual for popes and presidents to be at cross purposes, it's exceedingly rare for the pope to directly criticize a U.S. leader

The gloves are off. This Pope was elected to be a globalist politician.

Dont you wish popes of the past would have spoken out against pedophilia clergy just as strongly?? Protecting Islam is an interest hill for them to die on

Not a word from the Pope when dictators slaughter their own innocent people, or when terrorist slaughter innocent people, but when some one stands up to the terrorist and dictators, the Popes, (not just leo) all have something to say against those pushing back.

Trump’s Twitter tantrums are not at question. The Pope's are.
