Trump’s Twitter tantrums are not at question. The Pope's are.

Only a deranged individual would find the Pope’s statements to be offensive or some sort of attack. It was truly boilerplate stuff.

The pope was endorsed by the IRCG yesterday on Twitter.

The pope is a certified far left liberal. He has discredited himself as a biased political operative.

Funny how he failed to mention Iran killing tens of thousands of its own citizens that protested in January.

I think you massively overestimate the impact of Trump’s Twitter tantrums.

I can’t imagine any serious person caring about them.

Sadly it seems, the news cycle of the past decade belies your point and imagination.

The media reporting on something doesn’t make it important.

That's one perspective I guess. Of course, perception guides much of reality in politics since probably as long as there has been politics.

I was, perhaps naively, shocked how quickly and eagerly he was to take the bait. And all it took was freaking Axlerod
David Axelrod is a brilliant strategist, and a conniving snake. He was getting his arse handed to him in the US, so he sought a reset. He found it with a naïve Pope. Classic Axelrod.

What's he been doing? It seemed to me like he crawled out from under a rock to stick his nose into this. Have I missed something?

Nope, you've got it about right.

He bided his time. Then Dems realized they needed him. So voila! There it is!

And as long as everyone treats a statement as important solely because it was reported in the news, that will continue.

It also doesn’t really guide anything in politics. It drives what the media says the narrative is, that’s all.

Really?

What specifically did the Pope say about the "Death to America" cult?

Before he became Pope Leo XIV, Cardinal Robert Prevost was on Twitter trashing Trump, criticizing Vance, calling for open borders, promoting COVID vaccines, endorsing stricter gun control, and tweeting after George Floyd:

"We need to hear more from leaders in the Church, to reject racism and seek justice."

The account was deleted the day he was elected

This is horseshite.

Pope John Paul II was actually ordained in secret to escape Nazi persecution of Catholics.

The Catholic Church posed a huge portion of Nazi resistance.

Where do you people get this crap?

Thinking Catholics, know that when a liberal pope is speaking non-ex cathedra we all can disagree with what he says. The media does not understand that, nor does it understand Catholicism.
correct. Catholic, born and raised. Still go to mass and try by the hardest to follow the tenets because one day it may make me a better person. I support my local church and charities because it’s full of better people than me but I have no use for the institution. What Leo has to say about current real life events be it immigration, gay sex, murder of the unborn or dealing with radicals that want me dead is of no concern to me. JP3 was the last Pope that somewhat understood modern reality imo.

"And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been — if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."

The US isn't being hypocritical by condemning war while helping war criminals escape. The Catholic Church made an agreement with Nazis and fascists to protect themselves.
