Ok, so you carry all the time, right? And insist your wife carry? Indiana Jones was supposed to have taught our generation an important lesson.

For my health. And I have a pre-teen daughter.

To feel good and to look good naked.
My wife likes to brag about me at work. All of her coworkers' husbands have beer guts and are on a list of meds. I have visible abs at 37 years old.

For elk season 2046, decided a few years ago only thing that was gonna keep me from truly enjoying life was my health.
Just turned 50 this year, ran a marathon and 32 miles of a 50miler. Plan to complete a 50 in July. I tell friends you don’t have to run marathons to elk hunt but if you run marathons you can hunt elk.

Because Death is winning, and I want to do something about that.

To prove to myself I can do it, but the underlying reason is that I look around at other people my age (I turn 70 in 3 weeks...knock on wood) and the health problems they have. I decided if I'm going down it's going to be going down fighting.
I started my workout journey a little over a year ago. I was floating between 227# - 238#. I'm 5-9. My BMI was over 36. Today, my weight is down to 178# and my BMI is down to 26. Still a ways to go. So... What am I training for?
My first 5k race. For my birthday.
I am running three to four 5k runs a week for training, plus additional running/walking of between 4-8 miles daily. I just finally started running 5k times under 40 minutes and my per mile average is down to under 13 minutes. I want to go faster but instead, I'm going slower to increase my long range stamina and I'm close to being able to run without slowing to a walk for almost a full mile. When I started, I couldn't run 100 yards.

I'm 58, my wife is 48. My youngest is 12. I want to do what I can to be around as long as I can. Plus, my wife is somewhat jacked so I gotta be jacked to keep the young dudes at bay.

Currently training for like I would be doing a powerlifting meet. Training my 14yr old daughter so we hit the gym together.
Going to make the Colorado mountains my bitch in the fall. Hopefully shoot an elk.

For my health.
This. It hit me hard in my early 40s that I needed to do better to not end up like a lot of the folks in my family who are in their 60s and 70s with significant health issues (and a lot of them are due to poor lifestyles).
I'm finally at a point in adulthood where I have the freedom to enjoy life and not be a slave to my job. It also helps to have a fiance on a similar journey.
Also planning on hitting up Yellowstone in the next couple of years and want to truly enjoy it.

Same here. If you had asked me in my early 30s, I would have said to feel good and look good, and to compete in some local races. Late 30s it was just to feel good. Now I'm in my mid 40s and it is about longevity. My dad had a heart attack 4 years ago, and around that time I was at my heaviest weight. Decided to shed the pounds, and that turned into focusing on strength, mobility, and some cardio. I'm more of an endurance athlete than a sprinter or power lifter, but those are both important as well.
It also doesn't hurt that my youngest is almost 8, and I have another 11 years with him at home and I've got to keep up with him. I see too many of my friends that let themselves go, and we all get together at a campout with our scout troop and they're just not fit enough to keep up with the group, while their sons are running circles around them. Family is my main motivation at this point.

It’s crazy how the 40s hit. Growing up in South la my family whole extended family was about working hard and saving their money but complete disregard for their health. They all pretty much had enough money to do whatever they wanted but couldn’t because of their health.
I alwsys joke that a financial planner would say I was on track to have enough money till I’m 102 but my doctor would have said I would be lucky to make it till 62!!

Investing in my long term health.
Without health, life bites hard.

This right here. I have a 9 year old daughter. I'm 50. I'm still going as hard as my body will let me.
That first boy that comes to my house is going to be very uncomfortable.
On a side note, this summer, my teenage son and one of his buddies are going to train in my garage gym. I'm going to work with them so they don't hurt themselves, but they are going to go into their senior year jacked.

Tommy Rivs has a motto he monetized and promotes that I try to live by:
"Don't Get Dead"
That's what I train for.

Part of training is training her. My 12 year old girl is more likely to commit a misdemeanor than she is to have any broccoli head take advantage of her.

I’ll join the daughter dad theme.
My little girl is about to be 6.
I have about 7 years to get yoked before these punks start showing up at my house. No need to be cleaning a gun when I can be jacked in a stringer tank
