If Kim ends up retiring earlier than expected, its not going to be because anything with will wade like people tried to make up. Its going to be because this is the shite that coaches have to deal with in college sports now. A true freshman plays a bunch, is on a winning team with tons of fan support, and is expected to get a ton of playing time moving forward tells the HC that they are staying and then one week later changes her mind

What I do have a problem with is that apparently 7-8 days ago, she sat face-face with Mulkey and told her she was staying. So what could have changed since then?
Any time the agent makes the announcement and not the kid, it further tells me who is calling the shots.
Sa'myah Smith did NOT want to leave LSU, but a family member made that decision for her. I guarantee you could sit Bella down right now, look her on the eye, and ask her "do you REALLY want to leave LSU" she would likely say no. Someone is chasing a bag, and it isnt necessarily Bella.

It is odd, she was going to have an opportunity to at least start, at worst, the 6th player. And in her exit interview with CKM, she said she was coming back according to CKM.

With all of the good talent in the portal maybe Kim told her she was bringing in a top guard and Bella felt she would be squeezed for playing time. Or maybe found out she wouldn’t be paid as much as some of the potential newcomers. That might have been the case with the top Texas girls entering the portal.
The portal can sure make things messy for teams. Money, playing time, disloyalty by either coaches or players. You can’t bank on something from one year to the next anymore. Some players who’ve given their all maybe feel like they shouldn’t have to compete for a position they feel they’ve earned.
Not saying this is Bella. I really liked Bella. One of my favorites and seemingly a foundation for the future with the perfect team attitude. What a shame.
