I hope she isn't playing NIL games. That would be disappointing. I am hoping she sees an opportunity somewhere else and wants to take it.

Now you could be right. I don’t know. But I seriously doubt CKM was planning on bringing in a top guard and told Bella. I think Kim was planning on rolling with our present back court and maybe bringing in a depth piece.
Oh well. All bets are off now. This is extremely disappointing and frustrating.

In recent interviews both Bob Starkey and Kim Mulkey said one of their main portal targets was going to be an experienced PG for depth. Maybe the Hines family didnt like hearing that another player was gonna be added to the mix.

Her dad has been in a Twitter spaces (basically virtual voice call) in the past couple hours, and he seemed to allude to Bella (sounds more like him) wanting guaranteed heavy minutes next year. I’m more inclined to believe a team decided to throw her a similar bag to LSU and a guaranteed starting spot.
What I think her dad doesn’t understand is, there are very very very few teams that provide the platform and spotlight that LSU can in the women’s game. Unless she’s going to South Carolina, UConn, or USC. And none of those places would guarantee her a starting spot. Nobody is going to really care if you are starting at Rutgers or TCU.

LSU will be fine. Guards are a dime a dozen in the portal every year. Just further proof of how screwed up college athletics is. Players or parents want everything and now, if not they hitting the road and you’re seeing kids go to 3 to 4 schools by the end of their college career. We have lost sight on what college athletics is about

I completely agree. This one hurts for me because how much she loved it at LSU vice versa. Plus thinks shes going to be really good eventually. My guess is UCLA is paying her a shite load to go there.

I hate to lose Bella but historically, in the Mulkey era, players who have hit the portal to another team, were no better than they were at LSU. They may have had more playing time but they didn’t explode to be some great player. Bella might be different because I believe she is one of the better ones leaving since Mulkey arrived but this won’t break LSU. Mulkey will get someone just as good to replace her.

There are a ton of older guards in the portal right now way better than Bella. I dont like that shes transferring but she can easily be replaced for NEXT YEAR.
