Go ahead and announce their closure and draw down.

agreed - get out of NATO, close the bases and turn a deaf ear when the EU screams about the negative impact on their economy because we're pulling out of both

Just be sure to return the equipment home or demo it. Don’t leave shite behind for them.

The USA and Rubio are bluffing on this one. The Germans know this.

Main NATO Allies Involved
Here are the key examples based on recent reports:
Spain: The most vocal opponent. Spain has closed its airspace to U.S. military flights linked to Iran operations and explicitly denied use of the jointly operated bases at Naval Station Rota and Morón Air Base. Spanish officials, including Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Defense Minister Margarita Robles, have described the actions as not in Spain's national interest and limited to NATO's collective defense only (not offensive operations against Iran).
Italy: Denied U.S. bombers permission to land at Sigonella Air Base in Sicily en route to the Middle East. Italian officials cited lack of prior authorization or consultation, and Defense Minister Guido Crosetto emphasized that offensive uses require specific approval. Some reports note Italy allows logistical uses under existing treaties but restricts combat-related activities.
France: Blocked U.S. military planes carrying weapons/supplies headed to Israel from using French airspace or territory. President Macron's government has drawn lines against facilitating direct support for offensive actions in the conflict.
Other Notable Cases
United Kingdom: Initially resisted or limited U.S. use of British bases for preemptive strikes on Iran (citing international law concerns), but later allowed limited defensive uses. It has since provided additional support like troops and air defenses.
Non-NATO neutrals like Austria and Switzerland have also blocked or heavily restricted overflights, but they are not NATO members.
Context on Other AlliesGermany has allowed continued U.S. use of Ramstein Air Base for coordination, drone/missile operations, and logistics, though it has ruled out direct German participation in the war.
Turkey (a NATO member) hosts Incirlik Air Base with U.S. personnel, but it is under Turkish command and ownership. There are no widespread reports of Turkey outright denying U.S. use for Iran operations in the same way as the above countries; tensions there have focused more on Iranian threats to the base itself.

I actually think they'll be fine with that, euro trash has always cried about US bases in their territory, let's see how they do without the protection
Switzerland will step up to the plate, I'm so sure of it

80 years of paying for this stuff down the drain.

Good, we should leave. We should leave all of our military bases outside of the Western hemisphere.
If the Euros and Shieks want a post-American world, we should give them one. Good luck importing fuel and cheap Chinese goods without our navy keeping the choke points open!

Rubio is absolutely right. That's not an arrangement we should live with.

Great DFAC there. Also some great kebab shops outside the gate. You can get some pretty nice custom-tailored suits as well for super cheap.

Take over Greenland and Cuba and fortify them both, and we're good

Little Marco needs to go back to school and learn that those bases are there for deterrence against NATO members, not to launch wars of aggression on a whim. Last I checked, iran ain't at war with nato members in europe

I dare him to do it, we can’t get any more excited about that unless we do and a European conflict happens. Then let us see what the Muslim riots actually look like when they cannot subdue
Posted on 4/6/26 at 9:52 am to stout
how do we get nukes out of france and brittain? that will have to happen if we leave. I am fine with it, but we have to get them out.
Posted on 4/6/26 at 9:54 am to stout
38 trillion in debt. We should actively be shutting them down
Posted on 4/6/26 at 10:06 am to stout
we can add these new european findings of their true colors to our win column of blowing up iran mission.

Wow. Rubio has come a long way in the right direction.
Also, as soon as we actually close 1 base, 3-4 of those weenie counties will come crawling back to us.
