Have You Noticed Changes to the Student Body on LSU’s Campus?

Today we are wrapping up our first visit to LSU’s campus in several years, and I was genuinely shocked at how much the student body has changed. The vibe feels drastically different—less focused, more chaotic, and the overall quality of the locals/students seems to have declined sharply.
Crowds at the usual campus spots were rowdier, campus felt less polished, and the energy that used to define LSU just wasn’t there. I would think with all the money pumped into the school with recent athletic championships, it would be the opposite.
There wasn’t even a men’s home game this weekend.

Direct any and all questions to Pleasant Hall, where the Department of Undergraduate Admissions is. Follow up questions should go to the Louisiana Board of Regents.

We all know what this is about and yes it’s noticeable

I agree with you, but the same thing was being said over 50 years ago. I know because I was there.

Engineering and business side of campus feels normal though

Yep, wonder why?

LSU has moved toward "holistic admissions" since 2018, increasing diversity by considering factors beyond just GPA and ACT scores, such as essays, curriculum rigor, and extracurriculars, rather than relying solely on rigid minimums. This shift has sparked controversy, with some critics alleging lowered standards

all the money pumped into the school with recent athletic championships,
—-little of that goes to maintenance of buildings

Welcome back to Tigerdroppings. I assume you've been gone from here for the last 3-4 years.

Yes, it’s getting very trashy and has been trending that way for at least 5 years. I would think you’d feel right at home with the culture, green hair, septum rings and intermingling smells of weed, BO and patchouli. Aren’t these your people?

Yes, and before this it had upped the ACT standards for entrance obtaining better educated kids. You would hope that the flagship university would maintain the highest standards. They are trying to follow the Ivy League schools, But-but those schools are attracting students from vastly superior public school systems, and historically higher standardized test scores- a 28 ACT score is merely average.
Make LSU academics elite, we are doing it for football!! Let's apply those standards to the football team- recruit kids that run a 4.8 and bench 220 lbs, squat 250lbs.
And, it is often said we have too many colleges in our state. See:
Louisiana has a diverse higher education landscape with over 30 public institutions, including 17-20 four-year universities and 12-17 community/technical colleges, plus roughly 8-13 private, non-profit institutions. The state's public schools are organized under four main systems: the Louisiana State University System, Southern University System, University of Louisiana System, and Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

The yutes across the entire country has changed. Maybe the change is more drastic than other generations,
Pretty sure most older college alumni could visit their campus and say the same

LSU has embraced a hip hop culture.

Another old person who doesn’t realize he’s old sees young people in their natural habitat and decries the degeneration of youth.
Happens every day for thousands of years.

Yes it’s called holistic admissions. You can thank F. King Alexander and John Bel Edwards.
Hopefully the new administration course corrects.
