I don’t venture often here so if this subject appears continuously just accept my apology and pass it by…

So…

1. Paris. The architecture, the Paris white cream stone the city was blessed with from nearby quarries, the Seine, the bridges, the Eiffel Tower, the parks, just a beautiful city in a beautiful setting.

2. Prague. The Vlatava River, the King Bridge, the churches, the winding streets and alleys, the surrounding hills and trees, the castle, the squares, it’s almost like a little Paris without the hustle.

3. Budapest. The Danube, the bridges, the lights, the surrounding hills, the Parliament, the spires, it’s a more quiet and calm beauty.

Honorable mentions go to Krakow, Vancouver, and San Francisco (the latter two moreso for their natural settings).

A Little Let Down. London. I still enjoy London but I find it more dirty, closed in, crowded, congested, noisy, with a lot more ugly 1960s like architecture and less visually appealing than I expected.

1) Dubai, UAE - just awesome!

2) Vancouver, CA - pretty awesome in the summer (at least in the '90s).

3) Savannah, USA - pretty neat.

Crappy - Cairo, Egypt - spent 3 months there for work. Pollution everywhere. Crazy drivers and traffic. The Nile isn't all it's made out to be. The Egyptian Museum and the pyramids were neat though just as a bucket list item and the hotel (former palace) was amazing! Nightlife was ok and more western than I thought due to all the expats.

Philthydelphia was a letdown.

Salt Lake City was surprisingly fun.

I'll do a Latin America edition.

Most beautiful: Mexico City, Lima, Puebla

Let down: Santiago (Chile) - There's nothing wrong with Santiago, but the sights just aren't all that spectacular.

Rome
Paris
Budapest

All three are absolutely stunning, with architecture spanning thousands of years. Buildings from the 1700s are considered “new.”

Also, three of the preeminent food/drink cities on the planet.

The Seine, the Tiber, the Danube.

Vienna and Prague could easily be on this list.

I was a little let down by Sydney, Australia. Aside from the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, it’s kind of like Atlanta or Houston. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather be in Sydney than Houston or Atlanta . Melbourne is a much more vibrant and eclectic city than Sydney.

1. Vienna: My favorite city in the world.
2. Stockholm: Gorgeous during a snowstorm in February, can't wait to visit in the summer.
3. Amsterdam: Large city that feels like an old-timey small town.

Let Down: Prague: Beautiful city but it was so overhyped that it fell flat for me.

1. Paris
My favorite by a wide margin.

2. Venice
The most unique city I have ever been to.

3. Prague
This one is tough because there are so many to choose from, but I was there last year and was mesmerized walking across the Charles Bridge on a beautiful night and seeing the spires, steeples and medieval buildings lit up with floodlights.

Ugliest?
Maybe Naples if you don’t count the surrounding area.

My pick for the most beautiful city in the US is San Francisco with New York second.

Ugliest
I have never been a fan of downtown Los Angeles.

Lots of beautiful cities mentioned so I'll name 3 that I don't think have been mentioned

Antwerp - beautiful medieval center and one of the most fantastic Art Noveau neighborhoods.

Copenhagen - beautiful fairy tale like city center and lots of interesting neighborhoods outside the center.

Florence - it's been many many years since I was there but the architecture and the river running through town make it vury nice

Most dissapointing city
Stockholm, I know many will disagree but I've been there 3 or 4 times including once with a friend from there and we stayed at his sister's house on a little island outside the city. He took us to a lot of cool places outside of Stockholm and I liked those places . But Stockholm has never clicked for me.

I can say one that was both.

Madrid.

The area on the Gran Via is beautiful, with tons of historic sites to see, nice shops and restaurants everywhere.

Outside of that one street, that city is mostly a graffiti filled shithole. I stayed catacorner to the Bernabeu and there was a little courtyard outside the nice Hilton I was staying at and there was overgrown grass growing in all the cracks and it looked like an abandoned city, and this is a couple hundred feet away from one the the most famous stadiums in the world. There was hardly anything to do around the stadium and it looked like this fancy stadium was dropped in the middle of some shithole.

I thought Lisbon was one of the most beautiful large cities i've ever been to, as was Seoul

Los Angeles is definitely on the let down list. So is Vancouver, downtown Vancouver that is. Nothing but drugs and gangs around there. Now outside of downtown Vancouver is awesome.

funny ive heard many people in recent years say Paris is a shithole. My BIL said he will never go back after going last year. Said it was dirty and smelled everywhere and beggars every 5 feet.

It looks beautiful and I hope to go one day

Denver has been both impressive and a letdown. 10 years ago it was amazing and now downtown is like skid row and it’s gotten very expensive.

1. Edinburgh. My favorite city in the world.
2. Saint Petersburg, Ru. The Winter Palace and Nevsky Prospekt are surprisingly more European than Soviet.
3. Munich.

Let Down
Dublin. We stayed too many days there before making our way down to County Cork.

My experience is the complete opposite. It's a pretty clean city with lots of hidden streets full of tapas bars. And I didn't even go to the Gran Via area.
