FRISCO, Texas — One 16-year-old girl was killed and another was critically injured after the sled they were riding on struck a curb and collided into a tree, Frisco police say.
Police were called at about 2:26 p.m. Saturday to the area of Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court. Upon arrival, officials say police and firefighters found the two victims and began working to save their lives. They were then taken to local hospitals, where one of them later died from her injuries.
The other victim is still in critical condition, police said. Because both victims are minors, police are not releasing their identities.
According to police, their initial investigation showed a 16-year-old boy was driving a Jeep Wrangler that was pulling the two girls on a sled. Witnesses told police the sled struck a curb and collided into a tree.
Police are still investigating the incident with help from the Denton County District Attorney's Office.
So sad. I see lots of people doing dumb stuff on instagram. Looks cool but consequences can be grave.

We used to do that on knee boards behind 3 wheelers in the 80’s. Sad but accidents happen

Must have been flying for that to kill her

Me and my cousins did this with a plastic sled in a rye field in full bloom. Also pulled a non working go kart behind it.
Luckily we aren't dead

When I was 14, I lived at the base of a road that had a hill that went up 150 ft at about a 60 degree angle. The steepest road anywhere in our area. When we would have snow and ice it looked like a mini ski resort at the top. A hundred or more people sledding and skiing down and walking back up over and over. My neighbor had a long 15 foot piece of corrugated metal roofing that we bent the front end of to make a huge sled. We packed 12-15 on it and started down the hill. We couldn’t control it and the right side got up over the curb and we ended up plowing over about 7 mailboxes before we got to the bottom. Same hill I used to ride my bike down at 30-40 mph with “no hands.” Can’t believe I never got seriously injured or died freaking around with that hill.

Man I hate that. Pulling sleds with vehicles is so dangerous, especially if the person doing the driving isn’t using common sense. Probably what happened here.

Way back when me and my buds were bullet proof, we would find an old ice chest lid etc. and slide down the concrete spillway at Indian Creek Res. The green algae made it slicker than snail snot and back then they didn't have a bunch of large limestone chunks at the bottom. Something to be said that God watches over drunks and fools.

I would love to see an AI version of that rig!

I didn’t know they had any neighborhoods with trees in Frisco

Its says they found the girls. Did the boy just leave em there?

Don’t be offensive.
The girls probably told the boys to leave they are strong enough to figure this out.

Idiots pulling these things like it’s a tube behind a boat.
Hitting water at 25mph isn’t as much like concrete as actual concrete is.

Jesus how fast were they going? feel like they had to be really moving for that to happen.

Sledding accident is very disingenuous here. More like driving accident. This has a lot more to do with a jeep driving in snow than it does the sled

When you turn, just like in water skiing, you can drastically increase the speed.

Worked a call back I think in 99 or 2000 similar to this that killed a girl.

That's not a sledding accident. That's an auto accident involving a sled.

This isn't an "accident".
This is a group of people who didn't have a voice of reason to say " This idea's retarded. Don't do it."
The driver is going to be seeing the inside of a lot of courtrooms between the criminal and civil trials that are coming his way.

A 16 year old.
There's no "probably" about it
