Protein on a salad

My spouse and I went to dinner last night and both got salads. We got into a discussion about whether the protein that comes on the salad should be warm or cold. We can't seem to agree on this. Thoughts from OT?

Could be liquid. Check that dressing before eating.

Do you mean meat? Say meat you weirdo. Protein could be lots of things.

Except for bacon bits I like my protein on the side.

Depends on the dressing for me. Vinaigrettes are better with cold, but the best combo is always warm protein + ranch

My favorite is warm grilled chicken salad with huckleberry vinaigrette.

I ask my wife all the time if she'd like me to add some protein to her salad.

Ham can work - cold
Anchovies - cold (lol at any warm anchovy)
Cheese - cold (grated or shaved)
I know I am not helping OP though

Chicken is great cold shaved style, but it is also great when its nice freshly sliced marinated chicken coming hot from a grill.
Shrimp is good cold if boiled and done like a remoulade style. Also good blackened and warm, though.
Fried seafood needs to be warm so it's still crispy and freshly fried.
Tuna, I can go warm (just seared) or totally raw/sashimi style.
I don't really do steak on salad much, but I would want it warm if I did.
Crab, cold obviously. I like a marinated seafood salad with lots of lump crab.
Salmon I can go either way, I guess. I don't order salmon on salad much.

They all should be like the one you get at Goodwood Grill.
