#Sinners has shattered the #Oscars    all-time nomination record with 16 nods, surpassing the previous mark of 14 noms held by “All About Eve” (1950), “Titanic” (1997) and “La La Land” (2016)

Ryan Coogler’s supernatural thriller received nominations for best picture; director; actor (Michael B. Jordan); supporting actress (Wunmi Mosaku); actor in a supporting role (Delroy Lindo); original screenplay; casting; production design; cinematography; costume design; film editing; makeup and hairstyling; sound; visual effects; original score; and original song for “I Lied to You.”

It's OK but nowhere near 16 Oscars good or its hype, generally.

It's a solid movie, IMO. The problem is it's very overhyped, so friends of mine that have recently seen it were underwhelmed

I loved Sinners, but I don't think MBJ's performance was Oscar worthy neither was Wunmi Mosaku's. Delroy's I agree with

It was an okay movie and entertained me for a couple of hours, but I don't see it as some great film worthy of that many nominations.

I liked it a lot, but we all know why.

Best 90's movie I saw this year.
A bit hokey at times and supremely overhyped. Enjoyable in spurts for sure.

No Other Choice getting shut out is ridiculous. It had my vote for best picture. The camp vamp film did not.

I thought the same thing. It deserved Editing over Sinners and F1 at minimum.

Yea I was sort of let down after I watched it because it was so hyped up

It was solid but not something I will watch again and again like some movies.

This is where I'm at on it. I actually loved it and thought it was awesome for the most part. I had high expectations, and it exceeded them for me. I thought it was that good. It's just a cool, fun movie.

But 16 Oscar nominations is hilarious though.

I heard generally good things. Not 16 Oscar nominations good, but still, a very solid movie.

It was good. Not elite by any stretch

I am most happy for Delroy Lindo and his nomination. It’s a stacked category this year . He deserved to be nominated for Da 5 Bloods.

Did you ever watch From Dusk Till Dawn? Did you like From Dusk Till Dawn?

If so then you’ll probably like Sinners.

Cool. I’ll research it. Any reason why they’d shower this thing with more Oscar’s than any movies ever had before?

It’s going to set the record for most Oscar losses too. It had the best chance to win Best Song until KPOP Demon Hunters came out. It might win Costume and Casting.

This is where I’m at too. I loved it and it was the perfect movie to watch this past October, but I didn’t see anything about it other than a music award nod that made it Oscar worthy let alone 16 nominations worth.

It’s a real good movie, but not great. Production value and score are top notch. 16 Oscar noms is insanity. It’s the Black Panther of vampire movies because it gives big budget cultural representation in the horror genre with a key racial component to it, while also throwing in a celebration of culture. Funny enough I actually thought the music Time Machine bit was completely out of place and the worst part of the movie even though it has great music throughout.
The best song below imo. I wouldn’t mind a sequel to this one in the 80s/90s.

I liked Sinners but it's definitely not worthy of 16 Oscar nominations. Is this going to be Sinners vs. One Battle After Another for every statue?
