I’m 42 yrs old, one six yr old boy, another boy coming soon.

He’s in kindergarten, and I mentioned in passing to my wife that this is prob last year or one of last years he’ll believe, as I stopped believing in the first grade. Wife was like no way. I didn’t stop believing until the 5th grade. Thought that was ridiculous.

So, I brought it up last night at a get together after church. 12 adults or so. They all agreed with the wife. They believed until 4th-6th grade. So did these ppl have a sheltered experience, or am I an outlier who stopped believing at age 7?

I remember when my childhood best friend told me in a horrified voice that her across the street neighbor, Shirley Ann who was a year olde, had told her there was no Santa Clause. I think we were in the First Grade.
We decided not to tell her younger sister.

Both mine were around 9-10 years old. They are 13 and 11 now and my daughter told us around 9. We just made her promise not to ruin it for her brother and he told us last year he knew.

Kinda sucks because they dont light up at the gifts like they used to.

I think I was in third or fourth grade when I stopped. My son is 6 and is still all in. I’m hoping to get at least another 3-4 years out of it for him.

Our son will be 7 next month . I pray we are lucky enough to get 2 more years.
The excitment they show leading up to and the excitement he had at 5:45 this morning just reminds you of what’s important.

It brings me back to that exact age!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Last night when that poster's sister's a-hole boyfriend ruined it all for everyone! I hope she kicked that dude in the dick. I'll never be the same.

Belief in Santa rarely survives first grade. School is where kids learn about most things. Fifth and sixth grade kids don’t believe in Santa.

This is true. First grade is where I got my first ever kiss on the lips from my teacher Ms. Black. She was hot, too. I'm pretty sure I sexually assaulted her and would probably be MeTooed if I ever run for public office.

We told our kids after their last Christmas in primary school. We wanted to tell them on our terms and middle school kids can be viscous

Santa is real mate. The magic is in the joy. First you learn the story, then you are present in it, then you participate in it, then you become it, then you pass it down.

We ate the magic

When they figured it out on their own. We didn’t push it….we didn’t try to talk them out of it. When they can come up with their own conclusions, then we let them know what was going on…

Although, they do like participating. My 15 year old was tracking Santa last night. My 13 year old put cookies out before bed….I started eating them before bed and he came out and in his playful voice…..hey hey! No! That’s for Santa! I better not ever SEE that again.

So they still have fun with it.

I would say 3rd-4th grade is normal for most kids. By the time you’re in 5th grade/middle school everyone knows the truth.

First grade is really early to stop believing.
