Historically, are the Jesuits to Christians as Islamists are to Muslims?

Going back to the counterreform, inquisition, and other violence in the name of their religion to now where they ignore the tenets of the church if it suits their woke agenda?

No, the Jesuits aren’t the militant violent type. The Jesuits are the traitor communists. They undermine church teachings in order to side with woke enemies of the church, rather than to carry out atrocities to protect it.

Lot to unpack here.

The Jesuits are the educated branch of the Catholic Church. The big problem is they know divinity is bullshite and that gets them in trouble from time to time with the "faith only" types.

There's nothing comparable in the modern age; even among the cults. When Islam goes too far, they kill others. When Christianity goes too far, they kill themselves.

The Jesuits are just a religious order in the Catholic Church. Jesuits (Society of Jesus), Dominicans (Order of Preachers), Franciscans (Order of Friars Minor), Benedictines, Carmelites, and others are collectively known as religious orders. There are hundreds of such orders. Each were founded by a saint or inspired leader with a unique purpose, but all united under the authority of the Pope and the broader Catholic Church.

It's not really the whole order that is the problem. It's really the guys in South America who get themselves in trouble from time to time with the Pope.

This is the correct answer.

No, it’s more like Westboro Baptist Church is to Christians as Islamists are to Muslims

My understanding is that all religious orders report to the Catholic hierarchy - except for the Jesuits. They report directly to the Pope.

And simplistic to boot.
Over the centuries, the Society of Jesus has been one of the Church's staunchest defenders in many ways. Then the 1950s and 1960s came along, and they flipped it all on their head, and they are one of the least orthodox/"loyal" defenders of Church teaching.
Yes, they require almost 10 years of formation before final vows or ordination. But then you get the Fr. James Martin types.

As an atheist, it always amazes me to watch progressives immediately attack Christians/Catholics after another Muslim goes on a killing spree.

We get it. As a progressive you support one religion and one religion only. It happens to be the same religion that wants to destroy western culture and kill Christians (infidels). For decades I have understood exactly why progressive leftists love radical islam.
