Why would Ohio State want this guy fired?
All of Michigans rivals were hoping he’d be there for a decade because he was at best gonna be Les Miles.
Even then no one expected this kind of crash out.

I don’t know what gives you that impression. Michigan’s roster was devastated after winning the national championship given all the seniors that were on the team. They were in a rebuilding phase which realistically takes four years. My assumption was that they hired Moore to get them through that would see higher losses than normal. A big name coach wouldn’t necessarily have wanted to come into that school and end up with 10 or 12 losses over the course of four years. Let the guy who wouldn’t have a head coaching job otherwise take those losses. You fire him after four years and get a big name coach.
Essentially this happened to Coach O except he won the national championship. He lost so much talent after that season and LSU has been in rebuilding mode ever since.
