They are actually fun to watch. Just improve both lines and WR corp a bit in offseason. Take best available in draft.

Next year a winning season and playoff berth is quite possible in this division

they're 2 years out. they still need an infusion of high end talent on both sides of the ball, but there's pieces that put them further along than we thought too

I totally agree, they have been close and in allot of games this year. I really think KM is doing a helluva job coaching. Sure the wins aren't there, but he is maximizing what he has. And to be frank what he has isn't great by any means.

Qb is looking better, need some line help both sides of the ball, new rb, a wr and you are well on your way

The biggest thing I believe to make me think we have the right coach has nothing to do with what the saints have done

It's the eagles, look at what had happened to that offense since KM left, they are a shell of themselves and just about the same personnel

I'm excited about this teams future

Not close. Just that we were never as bad as many believed or wanted to believe. In the pros? Every team is loaded with talent. The best of the best and all for millions and glory

I don’t know about close but they are further along than most anticipated. Carr really helped us out by retiring. If we can string a couple more solid draft classes together, get rid of some big contracts, and sign quality free agents, think we can compete for a playoff spot in 2 years

Probably not. But I will say this… I had more fun watching them this week than any prior week of the season.

I don’t mind pulling for a young team that’s not so good. But I absolutely hate pulling for an old team that’s not so good.

Yes and no.

If we absolutely crush it in fa and the draft we can compete for the playoffs next year if shough is truly qb1.

But the odds of that happening are very slim. You're still not very good in run d and pass rush is mid at best. Couple that with a ok secondary and mid skill position players and you get the team you see right now.

I think for winning playoff games or competing for more than a 9-8 NFC South berth. There’s a chance Shough finishes this season 5-4 or 6-3 with how the schedule lines up. We could absolutely be competitive next year with a good offseason.

I agree. Upgrade the guards. And add a #1 WR

Olave
Tipton
Vele
Pettis
JuJuan

That’s a solid corp. just need a top dog.

need an upgrade at both guard spots.

McCoy is a good player but injury prone center.

I really don't know about Fuaga though man.

I know he's been hurt some this year but even before then he didn't exactly develop his game much.

I'm not trying to rip him but just have him on the "not so sure" radar after his first 2 seasons.

need a difference maker at WR and TE although TE is such a luxury and not so easy to find. Juwan is an okay player but a guy that has these awkward moments at the worst times. Not a lot of yards after the catch from him.

still need more push up the middle on the D-line IMO.

Agree that this division is still within reach net year.

Changes of some kind coming in Atlanta and the Bucs are reeling all of a sudden. Wouldn't be shocked if Atlanta beat them on Thursday to be honest.

follow up thought on Fuaga.

the Saints have been playing so much from behind this year and were forced away from any kind of run game they may have wanted to try and use.

even when Drew Brees was the QB and he had 40 or even 50 attempts that's not where you want to be.

Fuaga's lower leg is thicker than his head on gameday.. He's clearly playing thru an injury, while also playing next to the worst fricking guard of the century

He did block Myles Garrett up enough last year when the Saints actually ran all over that Browns D.

I admit I overthink and the game flow for the Saints has been a runny tray of diarrhea this year.

you cannot fall behind like they have so often and expect to have any kind of balance.

They're close.

We need better push on the O-line, and a bruiser to compliment Kamara's skill set.

We need the best WR we can get this offseason.

We need more pass rush.

Not a long reach at all to make us competitive again.

I’ve watched him a lot and he hasn’t been good this year. I often feel like he’s in the way and hurting more than helping. That being said, he was really good last year.

I really want Reese or Downs as a defensive playmaker in the draft…but part of me would be really happy if we got Fano or Mauigoa to play RT and moved Fuaga to LG. If we did that and signed a FA RG and moved Ruiz to backup center, we make our biggest weakness or biggest strength. That and a tall-speedy WR like Boston, Bell or Brazzell in the 2nd and this offense is all of a sudden very dangerous.

Close to...what?

They are not talented enough, even remotely, to be "close" to being a winning football team if that's what you mean

But it does seem like they have found a couple of things they can build on for the future

Team needs a lot more talent

I think teams see our record and not getting up for our game. It always happens in the nfl. Team needs a major talent upgrade in several areas.
