but why?

(and I'm surprised CA already doesn't have a helmet law for pickleball, require a permit, and a COVID shot to play on private courts)

Its really loud and incessant noise if there are houses around.

Because the matches are 4 players per court on tiny courts there's literally 200 "TACK!!!" sounds per minute.

Why the hate for Pickleball?

It makes noise and people enjoy it, those 2 things are a no-no in The People’s Republic of California. In my town it’s mostly people 55 and up.

Fort Lauderdale just built this. I don’t play Pickleball, not against it, just never played. This is ridiculous though. A grand stadium and 40 courts.

It is loud and it is a big hit where I live at. I live 3/4 of a mile through a lot of woods from the courts and my wife can here them playing. I can't being I wear hearing aids.

How is that any different than any other recreational activity? Golf courses cover hundreds of acres. We got billion dollar football stadiums. If private equity is paying and it is sustainable, what's the concern?

Pickleball, wealthy senior players need to buy some acreage out in the sage and cactus and build the courts out there.

The whole story OP should have linked

The ban stems from years of noise complaints by residents near Forest Hill Park, located in the center of the ultra-wealthy coastal hamlet south of Monterey.

So the most joke of a reason ever

I played it once and it was a lot of fun. It’s a very social game and you can get a fairly good workout. And it’s a game you can play even if you have some orthopedic challenges like bad knees.

Personal views on Pickleball aside, what happened to the California where they just let people do their own thing? What’s with all this banning crap?

Bunch of damn fascist.

Getting people to move around to stimulate their muscles can’t be bad, being in a place like Ft Lauderdale would suggest elderly getting active. Better than running for your lives in NYC

Why?

Because people are out and having real human contact without their cell phones?
