I guess they weren’t having fun correctly?
I can see where this is going. Think prohibition- but with paddles and whiffle balls.

The noise is unfortunate.
Country clubs (golf) create issues with grounds maintenance equipment especially when the crew needs to start early morning to get the course ready for the onslaught of players.

I figure Cali would be more prone to taxing it than banning it.

Pickleball gets retired people out of the house and off CNN.
Let them play.
Let them play.

Old, rich people with their feelings hurt.

Agreed. Not retired, but I play.
There are several indoor facilities with pro shops and full bars near my hood.
And they are packed.

It tells you why in the very short article/post you couldn't be bothered to click on and read.

I played it once and it was a lot of fun. It’s a very social game and you can get a fairly good workout. And it’s a game you can play even if you have some orthopedic challenges like bad knees
Some??
I heard a one from NYC a few yrs back interviewed that essentially said "thanks for all the business, but stop playing PB."

Not because he doesn’t play pickleball. I’ve seen a lot of fat assess on pickleball courts thinking that they’re athletes all of a sudden when the truth is that they wouldn’t last two minutes playing tennis.
Good for them for trying to be active, but as with a lot of “trendy” activities, the worst thing about pickleball is the people who play it.

is there a poster here who just might have some context on that?

I mean…..it’s Carmel. Have any of yall been to Carmel?
Posted on 11/20/25 at 7:35 am to GatorOnAnIsland
If I lived in Carmel, Ca. I would not want that either. Liberals are spending tax dollars to build these pickle ball court travesties that in 10 years will be a relic of more wasted government spending.

No more than any other moderately intense activity that older people take up.
But Crossfit? That's the orthopedic surgeon funnel fad.
The entire premise of Crossfit is that you never allow your muscles to fully adapt to something before you change it, so they constantly have to stay in adaptation mode (which means growth mode).
The problem with that theory is that joints are composed of more than just muscles. They involve cartilage, tendons, and ligaments as well, all of which adapt slower than muscle tissue.
So your muscles may be able to adapt to those cleans and jerks that you dove into 100% without learning how to do them correctly, but your tendons and ligaments might not.
Most (but not all) people in their 20s can get by doing Crossfit without acute injuries (although they may be developing chronic ones for later), but after your 20s, maybe early 30s, Crossfit is an orthopedic injury factory.
