Is Baton Rouge the worst SEC school city?

For the purposes of this thread we are ranking the cities by best place to raise a family. Not the best place to be a college student.
“Insiders” on coaching changes board claiming kiffin wont come to BR because its a shithole and he doesnt want his family here which is probably bullshite even though it is indeed a shithole
Possible options for worse than BR are Starkville and Gainesville.
South Carolina is generally a nice state to live in but Columbia is kinda a shithole.
Columbia MO is actually pretty nice.

BR may be the worst as far as crime goes. But there’s a lot to do. As for your ranking of Starkville as a shite hole, I disagree. Starkville may be boring and small, but it’s definitely not a shite hole in so far as crime or trashyness. It’s actually quite nice. Very clean and crime free.

Crime wise? Yes. I wouldn't move my family to BR if I had other options. I wouldn't move my family to Tuscaloosa, Auburn, or Starkville either, just for different reasons.

I'm sure I will get shite on for this, but Knoxville doesn't feel like much of a college town to me either.

I think if you are moving to BR with a middle class income then it is not attractive. If you are coming with Lane Kiffin money and can live anywhere in the city you desire then it is not so bad. Some very nice areas to live in in BR.

When you have money, Baton Rouge isn’t a shithole. Money eliminates most of BR’s problems.
But it can’t fix the traffic

Fayetteville AR is strong contender for #1.

3rd worst, behind Starkville and Tuscaloosa.

Depends on what you’re looking for. I know this board likes to shite in Baton Rouge for “crime”, but the reality is that it doesn’t really affect anyone who lives in good areas, and our football coaches always, obviously, live in good areas.
If you like living in small towns, Baton Rouge would be far down the list. If you don’t, it would easily be in the top half. Just depends on what you want.

Austin. Not even close.

I dislike Gainesville. I always see people talking about it as nice because of its proximity to the beaches and other places to visit. If you have to sell your city as a stopping point to go somewhere else it’s not a nice place.

If we are being unbiased Oxford an Auburn are probably the best SEC school cities.

Austin
Austin proper is not good. I know it's supposedly improved since they banned bums from ca,[omg underneath I-35, but I spent too many years driving around at 4AM around SoCo, 38th street, etc., to believe it's anything more than a dump. Traffic is BTR level, if not worse. I wish I could put College Station on the list, but it's far, far better than BTR and Austin.
And nobody gives a shite about the idyllic subdivision you live in in "Baton Rouge" that is halfway to Donaldsonville.

the Baton Rouge area is one of the better ones. More educational opportunity, more cultural things to do. YOu're only an hour away from New Orleans so that means its museums, and events such as Broadway are easy to get too. Better restaurants. A distinct Cajun culture.
Better than Starkpatch, Oxford, Gainesville, Columbia, Athens, College Station. Norman,
Better than BR: Austin, Knoxville, maybe Tuscaloosa, Nashville

I’ve been to every state and pretty much every city for work. Baton Rouge is my favorite place. Louisiana has a soul to it, a depth, the people are great and care about the friends and acquaintances.
There is always something to do. We have at least one of everything. Traffic is nothing compared to La, Ny, Atlanta, Houston, DC etc etc. people complain because they haven’t lived in many other places. I have. I’ve also lived in many cites for a few weeks for work. Most people live in their city because they have to. I live in BR by choice.
My wife is from Atlanta where her whole family lives. When I got a job offer in Atlanta she refused to leave Baton Rouge.
Much of BR is not pretty, but the neighborhoods are great. We love it here.

Knoxville is pretty underrated. Never had a bad time there
Austin- 10 years ago but it was cooler 10 years before that and even cooler 10 years before that. It has to kinda suck for college students now that the bars don't need college students to thrive. When i was underage ages ago, the bars were already tough on IDs. i have to imagine it has only gotten worse
College Station- could be a top contender if it wasn't filled with aggies. It should be a great college town but its really bland
