Next season will mark the first time Oregon and Oregon State will not face each other in football in more than 80 years.

But a multi-year agreement to restore the rivalry starting in 2027, as reported by The Oregonian/OregonLive last week, would keep the series alive through 2032, according to a spokesperson for Oregon athletics.

Previously, Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens and OSU AD Scott Barnes stressed the importance of maintaining the rivalry following the Ducks move to the Big Ten in 2023.

While certain details about the slate of games are still being negotiated, it is likely that the series will pick up as a home-and-home in 2027 at Autzen Stadium. That would mean that the Beavers will not host the Ducks until 2028, a gap of four years between home games in the rivalry for Oregon State.

However, the six-game arrangement would mean that both the Ducks and Beavers will host three games as part of the latest contract.

Mullens told The Oregonian/OregonLive that the Ducks must play seven home games each season for revenue purposes. In odd-numbered years the Ducks only play four conference home games.

Saturday’s matchup will be the 129th in the rivalry’s history. The Ducks have won 69 times, the Beavers 49 and there have been 10 ties. The Ducks 69-10 win in 2017 was the widest margin of victory in the series, which dates back to 1894.

The teams did not meet in 1943 and 1944 during World War II.

Sadly 2022 was probably the last time this game is even somewhat competitive

What's great about the toilet bowl is you had two programs vying with Temple and Kansas State as the worst programs of all-time....and boy, did the Beavers and Ducks submit their bonafides in that game.

Who ever saw Oregon and K-State doing a complete 180 in the 90s?

Because the beavers wouldn’t have renewed the series if they didn’t get home games (Understandably). And from an Oregon fan’s perspective this home and home is a tradition that we as fans shouldn’t take for granted. Also as an out of conference road trip, it is the only road game on the Oregon schedule that can be a same day bus ride to the stadium, where the players aren’t on the road the day before.

So just make Washington your new rival

TV decided Oregon State was G5 now

That video was awesome!
QB for the ducks was Chris Miller. If I’m not mistaken he was a Falcons qb. How fitting.

They are. Washington/Oregon is the rivalry that is full of pure hated (and that feeling is very mutual). Civil War has lost a significant amount of the hatred over the years, though it had to as those early 1900s to 1910s games led to the 1911 meeting to be cancelled and then the next meetings relocated to Albany, due to the fan violence. But there were Oregon fans who supported Pat Casey’s Oregon State baseball team.

Feel terrible for the Beavs. Corvallis is also much nicer than Eugene as a college town.

Unfortunately Oregon State has basically been relegated to a G5 program. Gone are the days of this being a highly competitive matchup.

Oregon wasn't great by any means, but they weren't as bad as those three schools. They were actually 4-6 going into the game. Oregon State on the other hand was pure poop. They had won 22 games in 12 years.

I agree, Oregon is set to dominate this matchup year after year. Dan Lanning is doing an outstanding job building the program into a true blue blood.

And they just completely redid their stadium. West coast football was on the decline, but the Big Ten probably outright killed any future

Good on them. I hope the Iowa-Iowa State game doesn't go away.
