Good on Fiddy/G-Unit for investing and revitalizing Shreveport,

quote:

A G-Unit rep confirmed a state-of-the-art dome is coming permanently to Shreveport, complete with LED lights and graphics, just in time for the city's biggest festival ever.

Plans are in the works to turn Millennium Studios into the headquarters for G-Unit.

He wants to draw people back into downtown, sparking new growth for the city. And in just eight months, a new dome -- resembling the Las Vegas Sphere and twice the size of the temporary G-Dome seen at last year's Humor and Harmony Festival -- is expected to open permanently in Shreveport.

quote:

Orville Hall, G-Unit's Growth advisor: "This one will be a structure, a permanent structure. And to add to it, Curtis is adding a beautiful green park around it so that people can use during the day if they having lunch downtown or visitors. Because what Curtis knows he can do for this city is that it will become a seven day tourist destination."

KTBS: "Is 50 paying for this dome himself?"

Hall: "Well well ... we have a partnership that will be announced with the state and some of those attractions will be a part of that partnership. And that will be announced at the proper time through the governor and the governor's office."

There's no word yet on an exact location for the G-dome that is expected to be located in downtown Shreveport.

The Vegas sphere cost $2.3 billion to build and $450,000 per day to run.

Good luck, Fiddy.

It is such a god awful idea. Wonder how much in state incentives will be wasted on this?

Who remembers when they did that awesome venue and all the bars/restaurants under the bridge? And the shopping venue across the river from it?

Remember what happened to all that? I remember.

yeah, it seems like a hopeless venture. We agree there. But he as a businessman isn’t completely hopeless.

There's already a CenturyTel Center or Brookshire's Arena now. I don't see why you would need another considering the size of the city. That'd be a waste of money, and get shows sporadically. I think the people of the city already complained at how expensive the CenturyTel Center was to build and the amount of money it brought in. They are also planning another bridge in Southern part of the city that I think would be a toll bridge, but just can't see that paying itself off either. The focus should be the other things they have done like building an Amazon Fulfillment Center that brings in thousands of jobs and trying to get E&Ps to have offices there because of the Haynesville Shale.

How do bullets react bouncing off the inside of a sphere? Could be an interesting physics project.
