It’s a huge problem there and the people are starting vigilante groups to stop them.

The police won’t do anything about it, so they’ll harass the pickpockets at the metro stations and point them out.

Pickpocketing is really bad in Europe. Went to Rome years ago, and a little boy (perhaps 8-9 y.o.) came up to me asking for money. I told him that I did not have any change, so he actually put his hands inside my pockets trying to find money. Of course, his mom is just watching not doing anything. Most of the time they are gypsies, but still a sad, cruel situation.

That little kid would have learned fast not to do that ever again. A shove or 40% power chest kick may have done the trick. I know it sounds bad but that is the only way to get the message across especially if the police are not doing anything about it.

Went to Florence earlier this year. It's pretty bad and they are so good at pick-pocketing, especially if you take the tram.

They work in pairs a lot, and typically someone will try to block you as the other goes in your bag.

They even get your front pockets.
