Support grows for Pitt State softball star in crash caused by suspect in third DUI offense
How the frick do we keep letting these frick sticks do this shite 3/4+ times until they hurt/kill someone. Shits ridiculous. I’m willing to let someone work through one mistake. You do the shite again your driving privileges need to be done and there probably needs to be mandated jail time.

A former Bishop Carroll softball and basketball star is fighting through her toughest challenge yet. Kendall Forbes, now a student-athlete at Pittsburg State University, was seriously injured in a crash over the weekend — and now, her former school and the Pittsburg State community are rallying behind her.
Forbes graduated from Bishop Carroll in 2022 and was a key player on the school’s 2021 state championship softball team.
“She was a fierce competitor,” said Bishop Carroll President Tish Nielsen. “She had a very bubbly personality and got along with a lot of friends."
Off the field, Forbes was just as impressive. Nielsen described her as someone who led by example.
“She was very involved,” Nielsen said. “Not only in athletics, but she was also a good student leader — and she was never a troublemaker."
According to Forbes’ family, the crash happened Sunday night in Bourbon County as she was traveling back to Pittsburg. She was hit on the driver’s side by a speeding vehicle, ejected from her car, and later found in a ditch. Her mother said she sustained brain swelling, lacerations to her face and other injuries.
“Her basketball coach would attribute and tell you she’s one of the toughest players she’s ever had. She's so tough, she said she will get through this injury and be back with us,” Nielson said.

Jared Ryan Query, 39, of Fort Scott, has been charged with aggravated battery while driving under the influence, his third DUI offence, in relation to the crash. He’s also been charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and driving with an open container of alcohol

1 time is retarded but I guess I get it, people make mistakes.
More than 1, just throw their arse in jail forever because they’ve proven they’re incapable of not making poor decisions. That’s your idiot tax.
It’s 2025, you can get an uber in fricking Bogalusa for gods sake

Agreed. We give people way too many chances for this, and other crimes.
The main issue with law enforcement is knowing who the criminals are. However, even when we know who they are, we aren't doing enough.
We frequently see people arrested that have 40+ arrests and 10 convictions. These types of people are not compatible with civilized society.

Not all of us have 25 year old wives to drive us around.
ETA: all you downvoters missed the thread from yesterday.

It really is asinine how easy these shite stains get off.

I think if there is going to be such a significant penalty then the standard for arrest and enforcement has to be much higher as well (requiring objective blood tests that prove impairment not just legislated content level).
ETA: I’m not against stiffer penalties for DUI, I have just seen too many cops abuse their authority in this and other scenarios.

The older I get, the less tolerant I get for drunken idiocy in general. Is it a get off my lawn thing? I don't know, but I'm tired of seeing stories like this.

stereotype much? How fricking low intelligence do you have to be to not drive drunk?

no problem with this as all people aren't the same. But once impairment has been established, the impaired should only have two chance to frick up.

We're lucky they even get charged with anything.
Went to high school with 2 people who killed some one while drunk at the wheel.
1 killed a construction worker while they were doing night work. Only jail time he did was the night of accident.
Other t-boned some one in the door, killed her immediately. Was arrested and in jail for weekend, parents made him sit till Monday to bail out, probation, 5 years of it.
It's always been a problem, we're lucky people are actually doing jail time for vehicular manslaughter these days.

Because the victim has not been the child of a judge or a prosecutor
Pretty simple answer

There’s a guy who I know of (met him a couple times) that has 8 or 9 OUIs, I don’t know how that’s possible.

As mentioned, it's 2025. This arbitrary "3 strike" law that was made back when people still thought having a seat belt on in the event of a wreck could just as likely kill you than save you, let alone having Uber all over the place, including BFE, is outdated. There is absolutely zero need to give a retard a 3rd chance to kill my, or someone else's, friends and family before they actually feel real repercussions from their dumbass decisions. If your cheap arse doesn't want to pay for an Uber then sleep where you're at. You have no excuse.
I'd love to play righteous man and say I've never done it in the past, but at some point you have to grow up, and with grown up responsibilities comes grown up repercussions for being a dumbass.

Once fully autonomous cars become a thing, will you still get a DUI if you are in the back seat while the car is driving you home?
Currently, if you are passed out in your car in the backseat with the engine running (heating or cooling) you can be cited for DUI.

A frick ton of people have made the mistake and gotten 1 and i get it, it was a stupid mistake. It can be a good lesson learned. No one was hurt.
A second one, it should be a tough penalty. Spend a couple years going through a program that requires you have a breathalyzer the entire time in your vehicle, community service for the couple years, etc.
3rd. Jail time. I agree by this point, you aren’t learning anything and are gonna end up killing someone

They’re just a money grab for the court system
They only look for offenders in the good part of town because they only want to catch people that can shell out the money to get out of it. Like 90% of the people on the other side of town are driving around with a blunt in their mouth, no insurance, and a hot warrant
