Let’s get to the core of the issue: only an idiot argues balls/strikes 10 pitches into 1st

He’s got a runner on second with 2 outs and an 0-1 count on his guy.
He was just setting up to try to control the game and bit him in the arse.

Especially when his guys were getting the same call in the top of the inning

He was clearly too amped up for the game. Too many Monster energy drinks. Someone called him Vitello lite. He definitely earned that moniker yesterday.

Last year, Aaron Boone got tossed 2 batters into a game.
Of course, it was a nothing game against Oakland and not an Elimination game. And Boone didn't even say anything.

I think he was trying to fire up his club and did not think he was going to get thrown out. Seems like that is their MO. Lots of bluster and the 26 game winnings streak had them buying their own hype. Couple that with really going through a soft bracket to get to the championship, they were a bit shocked by Mr. Anderson, if you ask me. Guy threw 130 pitches and was still slinging 96 at the end.

It sucks for CCU and if you wanted CCU to have a chance you are probably upset about it.
But the 1st base coach argued and got a warning. Schnall got a warning and got told to sit down or “shooed” and that’s when he decided to tell the ump he’s missed 3 balls in like 11 pitches.
That gets guys run. that’s the kinda stuff that gets you run. so why act like it’s a shock?
the only argument from anyone for Schnall is that it’s a big game so he should get more leeway because it would be really bad to his team.

This is the truth. He fits Myrtle Beach perfectly. Very similar population to Miami. Fake tough guys. He wanted to bully that ump into making calls the way he wanted. And then he wanted to play dumb afterward. I'm glad the ump took control and didn't give in to his intimidation tactics.

I don't think that was the case

This is probably more accurate. The core "value" of their program is "disrespect". And to be fair, it works as a motivational tactic. Hell, we have posters on here, EVERY GAME, screaming about how LSU is "disrespected" despite everyone recognizing LSU is one of the best programs in the history of the sport and no program has been better over the last 40 years. Also, there is probably a bit of truth to the disrespect. LSU and SEC fans don't really respect a Sun Belt conf. program.
The downside though is that when "disrespect" is your core value, you view EVERYTHING through that prism. Even when there is no actual disrespect. Coastal faced adversity in the biggest part of the season for the first time all year. That seemed to create a powder-keg of pressure and insecurity. They tried to cover that insecurity by doubling-down harder on the "disrespect" card...which caused really some innocuous moment to completely blowup. Your team just had a pretty dominant 1st half of the first inning. Then 10 pitches into the bottom of the inning you find some reason for "disrespect"?
Hindsight being 20/20, there is a good chance that guy was getting tossed at some point in the game if LSU had a lead in the later stages. He was wound WAY too tight. That is the difference between a program/coach that expects to be in that moment and one who outwardly projects such expectation, but internally still has some insecurity about if they truly belong with the elite.

You are not allowed to argue balls and strikes at any level of baseball. It’s an automatic ejection.

Agreed. He could have just as easily waited for the inning to be over and then gone to the third base umpire, who they weren’t arguing with, and asked for an explanation. He could’ve also said we think some of these pitches are a bit high and to ask if that is going to be the top of the zone for the whole game.
I really think had he waited between innings, he would not have been ejected. However, given his temper, it may have happened later in the game anyway.

The guy saw the writing on the wall so he die everything he could to get tossed on purpose so that he has an excuse if they lose, and could take credit for igniting his team if they won.
Texbook narcissist behavior.

Amen. It takes way more than ten pitches to even establish the home plate ump’s zone.

The biggest problem was both of those jackasses were warned to shut up and they escalated. They then got tossed.

I’m happy for LSU, but I hate to see a game impacted by umpires. You can’t throw out all the coaches in first inning in a national championship game. Who knows what would have happened if it wasn’t a recruiting coordinator managing game. Does Bama win a natty if you throw out Saban in first quarter? I don’t think so. This has sabotaged this LSUs 8th championship. Will go down in history with an asterisk below it saying” opponent had no coach. Only recruiting coordinator was in the dugout”.

nothing like a coach who makes it all about himself (ump aint gonna tell me to sit down!!) and abandons his team in the first inning of a must-win championship game.
well done, coach. well done.
