Shoplifter stabs himself to death while running from NOPD

Happened at the Walmart on Tchoupitoulas.

A man died after stabbing himself in the neck multiple times following a shoplifting call in the 1900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street Thursday morning, New Orleans police said.
According to NOPD, officers working a paid detail in the area around 10:45 a.m. were flagged down about a shoplifting incident. They soon located a man matching the description of the suspect, who was reportedly armed with two knives.
Police say the man ran when officers approached him. During the brief foot chase, the suspect began stabbing himself in the neck multiple times.
Officers rendered aid and called EMS. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Most shocking thing is that the cops responded to a shop lifting complaint. The end result is pretty awesome.
