Saddest ending of a beloved artist

The first one that comes to mind for me is Sinead O'Connor.
She exposed the Catholic Church on live TV decades before the scandals became mainstream and had one of the seminal albums of the 80s in the Lion and the Cobra.. Just a fricking power house album that I put right next to the Smiths Meat is Murder that sounds better the louder you play it.
In case you weren't paying attention a year or 2 before she committed suicide she went missing for months and someone found she was living out of a motel room in New Jersey or somewhere. So sad. I know musicians are often tortured souls just like other artists but her entire life was a pretty tragic and that includes Prince trying to rape her
and her running down the street to get away from him.
RIP Sinead. I hope you found peace.
Who do you got for a tragic ending?

Layne Staley - yet another example of a great talent that wasted it by self-destructing.
Staley weighed only 86 pounds when his body was discovered. Staley's body was partially decomposed when he was found. Medical examiners had to identify the body by comparing dental records
From his Wiki page

On October 29, 1971, while the band was on a break from touring and recording, Allman was riding his Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle[28][29] at high speed on Hillcrest Avenue, in the western part of Macon. As he approached Bartlett Street, a flatbed boom truck stopped suddenly in the intersection, forcing him to swerve sharply. He struck either the back of the truck or the ball on the crane and was thrown from the motorcycle, which landed on top of him and skidded another 90 feet (27 m) with him pinned underneath it, crushing his internal organs.
He was alive when he arrived at a hospital, but despite immediate medical treatment, he died several hours later from massive internal injuries. Allman's death occurred shortly after the release and initial success of At Fillmore East.[30]
died just over a month after going platinum on At Filmore East
