Coop was outstanding, SHores was somehow even better. It was a thing of beauty.

It comes at a good time for both of those out of the pen to step up. Also seeing Bear, Monsta, and Curiel hitting again improves our chances for success in CWS.

Pitchers showing reliability going in to Omaha:

Top tier
Anderson
Eyanson
Evans

2nd tier but looking really good
Williams
Shores
Rizy
Noot
Meyers (in short relief or closing)

3rd tier (could be good, could be bad but may need them)
Cowan (has been abused in his last 3-4 outings. He will be needed but everyone will be nervous)
Schmidt
Ware
Primeaux

Jay went back to the well of 2023.

“Okay, bullpen guys, let’s piddle around during the regular season. We can take turns on guys who pitch well at times and then completely lose it at others. Then, when we get to the postseason we dominate.”

Not sure what happened last night. Normally Shores is all over the place when I see him. Great to see him settle down last night. Maybe it's like how is more relaxed down the line up and Shores is better as a closer than mid-relief. Dunno but happy about it.

Riley Cooper was awesome in 2022 and 2023 down both of those stretches.

Shores has been really good down the stretch, outside of that one bad outing. We will need him and Cooper.

If Shores can take up that role moving forward then that frees up Cowan and Evans to be used in a different role (Evans either starter or long relief)(Cowan either bridge or long relief role depending on his command). And if Coop can perform like that consistently then that would allow Jay to have another arm to go to late in games especially against a Heavy Left handed lineup.

shores has mostly been very good lately

last putting I think he wasn’t ready out the pen and couldn’t get his mechanics right.

These guys all looked very solid in their last appearance. I don't think pitching will be our issue. We've got to keep them war clubs in the embers.

I'm guessing Jay just told Shores not to overthink and throw the fastball 4 out of 5 times. If they hit it, they hit it.

In short relief, he can throw 100+mph and dare them to hit it

Shores has been a warrior, starting didn’t work after the injury this year. Instead of packing it in, he went to the pen and has been electric.

If he comes back he should provide us two Aces again with Evans

When you have two guys in Rizy and Shores who can hit triple digits that’s going to be hard to hit, and if Cowan can get back to early season Cowan whoa baby!
