Worn with jorts or cargo shorts and the outfit is complete, especially for the yard

I wear Solomon hiking books and tall socks to avoid poison ivy and other frickery. Have had them 10 years

I just use the deck boots now. I spray a lot of weak killer and prefer the closed shoe vs a croc.

This. I don't think I've ever fathomed buying a new pair of shoes solely (no pun intended) for the yard. My old tennis shoes typically graduate to yard status in their retirement.

I have a pair of neoprene slip on shoes that I got from amazon for about $30. Bought them three years ago and they're still holding up.

Yeah I just designate my oldest or worst pair to ‘official yard duty’ when the time comes.

If not, just go buy most comfortable, cheapest pair at Walmart, Target, or Academy.

If you're looking for something fancier than an old pair of tennis shoes, I've enjoyed my Muck ankle boots. They're water proof, slip on/off, and made for the outdoors. I like them better than XtraTuf boots because the foot opening is smaller and lets less crap in the shoe when working in the yard. They also have more foot support than other rubber boots. I've been pleased and use them all the time.

I rarely ever wear shoes, but my light duty yard shoes are Merrell Jungle Mocs. Slip on, good comfort and traction.

IMO, tennis shoes are a no go. For something as light duty as yard shoes, the ability to slip on and off are key. I wear a lot of work boots for other things and don't mind lacing them up, but they stay on my feet for hours at a time. I might only wear yard shoes in 15 minute spurts and I'm not fricking with laces for that.

To me, a yard shoes is basically a closed toe flip flop with socks. Esy on and off is crucial.

My feet are f'd up, flat footed, plantar fasciitis, gout and anything else I forgot. When I was working the only thing I would wear Was Red Wings. Now it's Merrell's.

I’m suffering from plantar fasciitis right now. My feet feel best barefoot in the yard. I just finished cutting grass barefoot.

My vote is Vibram Five Fingers if you need a ”shoe.” I need to find mine and bring them back in service.
