Stop the madness.

I’ll die on this hill. If I had the choice I would go back to 2000s football BCS, conferences, warts and all. We have strayed so far from God.

We had greatness and didn’t realize it.

What has the ACC or B12 done to deserve 2 auto bids?

I’d go back to the pre-BCS days and just add a plus one title game. That’s really all the sport ever needed.

Why even bother? Just let the sports writers pick a champion.

This really smart guy wrote a blog article in 2006 about playoffs in college and rejecting the BCS, that basically described this exact process.

I’m only OK with this if they get rid of the conference championship games.

If they insist on that game, it is now meaningless and teams will potentially opt out of it or play their walk ons.

Also this means teams that make the championship will essentially be playing a whole NFL season.

Hard to keep the buy in.

If that’s the case the 2 that get 4 slots should be all they get because the 3 auto bids will likely be SEC and B1G as well. They should’ve just stayed with 4 and had the top power 4 teams compete.

yeah makes no sense to keep on with the conference title games at all

dr. pepper certainly losing out on CCG revs but can make much more by just sponsoring the entire playoff for a month

The Big Ten & SEC could have play-in games (3rd vs 6th 4th vs 5th)
they should do this on "conference championship" weekend and do away with the less meaningful conference title games...would be way more interesting.

come up with a different way to crown the conference champion for seeding purposes.

A decision is expected over the next month or two. The Big Ten and SEC hold their springs meetings later this month, where the SEC is expected to seriously explore a 9-game conference schedule - a move contingent on a CFP format and negotiations with ESPN for more revenue.

The four power conference commissioners held an in-person meeting in New York on Thursday to discuss several issues, including a future playoff format, sources tell @YahooSports. Big Ten & SEC - they control future format - continue to favor multiple AQs for their conferences.

BCS> 16 team > 12 team > 4 team

Everything has sucked since the BCS, but the top 4 having a bye was the most annoying option ever approved.

4 team, at the time was terrible for the sport. Maybe, now that the sport has zero rules, it would be the better option.

Reminder, American football was invented on college campuses where it slowly became an official sport. NFL didn’t come around until 100 years later. Ever step away from this legacy weakens college football as a whole.
