The left is losing their minds over this screaming that it is going to be waaaaaaaaaaay too expensive to turn this place into an actual functioning prison.

First.. I find it funny that Democrats and MSM are all of the sudden concerned about spending money

Next... these dumbasses forget that Trump has been in construction for over 60 years. His companies have gutted and remodeled hundreds of old, dilapidated crumbling buildings to get them up to code and to sell/rent out for millions. This refurb project won't be that hard for him to do because it's peanuts compared to a lot of other remodels that he has done in the past.

Oh it's going to destroy the tourism in San Francisco!!!! NO IT'S NOT. They do White House tours everyday in DC. They do Empire State Building tours every single day in NYC - That is a lame arse excuse.

I toured Alcatraz about 8 years ago … at night. That is one of the creepiest places I’ve ever been. It was very interesting… but creepy.

That also reminds me... if the build is soooooooooooo bad and unsafe then why are they allowing for 1million tourists to visit and walk through there every year?

I did a tour in 85 during the day. It was haunting and cool to see the cells of the famous gangsters that had been there. I like the idea. Make it cecot of the US.

I think Trump is trolling the left with Alcatraz remodeling. At the same time Trump is making a point about law and order.

It would need additional rehab for full-time occupancy.

I don't know about the safety aspect, but there are many things that need to be operational when functioning as a working prison that don't need to be functioning as a museum. Examples include: showers, kitchen, medical clinic, exercise yard, all security locks.

All they have to do is run new water pipes - Yes, very expensive but it's no more expensive than having to do the same thing in a condo high rise remodel.

I am pretty confident that they ate there before when in operation so new kitchen appliances, etc won't be that expensive

so why not refurbish brushy mountain tn prison? it's been closed for 15 years, not 60+. that area of tn (very near where i grew up) could use the jobs far more than san francisco. this is just another example of trump shitposting every ill conceived idea that runs through his head

I can guarantee you that if you sent a message to Trump's team... he would probably actually do it and I am dead serious about that. He probably does not know about that abandoned prison

This is the kind of trenchant analyses I come here for.

National Parks Service is about to spend $15 million just to make it safe enough to continue tourism. It is a dumb idea.

The View wanted to send Trump there last year, but not using it is bad.

He’s waiting on one of the “experts” to get on the news and say “it’s gonna cost $100 million” then Trump will say “you know what you’re right. We can do it for $25 million in Cuba. Get to work boys!”

I don’t know if it’s a worth while plan.

Then realize it might not be easy building a new facility in states other than Louisiana.

Also has a natural barrier from protests.

not one thing listed is necessary ! shower=fire hose, kitchen=bread & water, medical clinic=first aid kit, exercise yard=sledge hammer and rocks, security locks=ammo for Gatling Guns - try to escape get shot period . crime is created by pampering criminals !
