Have tickets to see Chris Stapleton this summer and didn’t realize until purchasing them that Marcus King is opening.

I’d heard “Delilah” before and was impressed but never did a deep dive until now and holy shite..

I’ve seen Stapleton live before and he puts on an awesome show (this was also before his last 2 albums which are both incredible IMO) but I’m starting to think I might be more excited to see MK..

He’s good. I’ve seen him do an acoustic set, which was nice, and burn it down at the Opry during the John Anderson tribute show. The latter is on YouTube.

I saw him in 2019 at the Sea Hear Now festival in Asbury Park, he was great.

I've seen him and stapleton both multiple times and I thought Marcus' show was better both times.

Marcus is an unbelievable guitar player. Been following his career since he was 19 and he’s as good as any of the big name guitarists.

Mk is a great guitarist, his singing is less than desirable imo.

When Marcus is focused on his blues stuff he is a treasure. The problem is when he focuses on his soul stuff. While it’s decent enough to spin on record at home, it’s quite boring live. I wish he’d get back to his blues roots

Said no one ever besides you.

He has one of the best voices in music today, coupled with being one of the best guitarists around.

Not sure why you are laughing. You can search "Marcus King vocal review" and find dozens of glowing reviews about his voice and vocal performance. The below is just one random one I found in 30 seconds.

Review: The Marcus King Band
quote:

King’s voice is so good that he could put the guitar down if he wanted to but, since he doesn’t, he’s a “total package” artist and entertainer who appears to have a long career ahead of him.

quote:

King’s high vocal range and technical singing skills are the equal of anyone out there in any genre

Saw him at the howling wolf a few years ago, then again at the Fillmore. Great shows.

Stapleton would’ve been better if he hadn’t spent half the concert sky screaming about trump

ETA: even if Marcus king was as good as yall say he still plays blues which is almost as bad as jazz and rap. Anybody can do allman brothers covers and sing about how they’re sad. Try a technically difficult genre like country if you want to impress us

Same here. Wasn't even aware of IMPAC in Gulfport. Can't wait!
