re: Opinion of the droptines?

They’re great dudes and put on a good show. A friend of mine opened some dates for them last year and I hung out with them for a bit in the green room when they played Birmingham. Liked everything they’ve released so far.
Believe things with Durkin are trending more to him leaving than staying. Tough. I don’t like this not working out. Feels like we’ll be starting behind the 8 ball.
Not going out on much of a limb here, but I think we’ll know one way or the other on DJD today.

Heard last night he was in and he’s getting a raise, but we’ll see. Allegedly he’s been contacted by a few other schools since yesterday afternoon.

Any insight why?

Kenyatta cares more about Kenyatta than anything else.

Allegedly he tried to get multiple players to sit if he didn’t get an on field role after Hugh was fired. (I’m not 100% sure how true that is, but it lines up with everything I’ve heard about him.)

Talked with a support staff friend and he seems to think it’s going to be gutted from top to bottom over there. He’s started looking for another job already and he’s been here for 8 years now.

Agreed I expect Crime to move to an off field role. I expect Durkin to remain as DC Rushing to remain as Safeties coach VKW to remain as DL Roc is still up in the air but I think he will get serious consideration.

I agree with all of this.

Not sure Kenyatta is back. (I’d even go as far to say it isn’t likely.)
Will Redmond is also likely gone, but will stick around Auburn in administration.
Durkin in from what I’m hearing.
I doubt we see any of the old familiar faces from old Auburn staffs outside of KB.
“I don’t play golf, fish, or hunt, I coaching fricking ball.” Is a direct quote from golesh today
Really high on Van Dyke. Will be able to cruit the hell out of south florida.
Have heard there is a meeting taking place relatively soon about DJD.

But Crain said he is being forced to keep DJ

Don’t think this is true.

If Kodi’s coming he’ll be the WR coach

That’s my expectation as well. I don’t believe there is an if, Kodi is already in Auburn.

Kevin Tudhope

He’s good people. Owns several different businesses around Auburn/Opelika.

Byron’s smokehouse, Baumhowers, several other stores.
Kodi is going to be on staff as well.

Other OC/OL coach is coming as well.

I’m not really expecting any of the offensive staff to be retained. It’s possible that Marcus Davis, survives this, but I doubt it.

I’m trying to get clarification rn.

As of an 2 hours ago I was told Golesh and Dillingham were both viable candidates.

Doubt we’d have moved off both them to signing Durkin in 2 hours, but who knows.
It’s Golesh or DJD at this point.

I was firmly on the DJD bandwagon until this week, but something about that hire just doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies. Hopefully I’m wrong.
Believe we have sent a new offer to Sumrall.

I suspect he wanted to hire Durkin all along. He walked away from Sumrall too easily. He knew he wasn't getting Sumrall for $8m in this climate. Durkin was his plan all along. Change my mind....

I don’t believe they think that Sumrall is 5-6 mill a year better than Durkin.
Cohen completely bungled this, but the schedule also forced his hand.

Sumrall signed an MOU Wednesday night.
From my understanding Cohen then went ahead and offered Durkin AHC and DC with a raise.
Sumrall wanted the opportunity to Interview candidates for dc, but he was likely going to retain DJD anyway. Cohen basically took that option from him though.

Cohen wholeheartedly believes there would be a mass exodus of players if Durkin was not retained. (I tend to agree) Sumrall was at least going to stay on board with Tulane through the conference Championship so we needed someone here to hold the team together/meet with recruits etc.

Florida also is going to outbid us on Sumrall. They’re more desperate for a hire than us because we have the failsafe in DJD.

Believe Auburn was somewhere between 6-8 mill a year with incentives and Florida will be between 8-10 base for him.

I was very very high on Sumrall, but I think we could do worse than DJ.

I've seen quite a few claims (mainly by "insiders" on X) that the contract with the new coach has been signed. We can all question their veracity, but they do all share the same ambiguity: they don't say who it is. I just find that strange.

I don’t believe anything has been signed yet, but I expect it to get rolling really quickly as soon as the iron bowl is over.

What if AU opened the checkbook to a Dan Lanning and said name your price? How would you feel?

We don’t have enough money to pull Lanning without it seriously cutting into NIL funds.
