81-year-old woman killed by dogs who broke through a fence to get to her

Happened in New Orleans East.
If you're wondering what breed of dog these were (poodle? golden retriever? lab?), you'll just have to keep wondering.
The SPCA and police don't say. Probably it's just one of those mysteries that can never be solved.

I say this every time this comes up:
If you could snap your figures and every pit and pit mix would disappear off the face of the earth they simply would be replaced. The usual suspects are going to pick another breed, and the Dogo and Cane Corso are likely contenders. Both those breeds allow for 100+ pound dogs in the breed standard, so when they get bred for size and aggression, they are going to be the 357 mag to the pit's 9mm. It wouldn't happen overnight but the end result will be worse.

Apparently garbage people. In the article the LASPCA says they’ve been to that house before, but not for those dogs. As far as I’m concerned, the LASPCA sucks. It is a worthless org collecting funds and does nothing. So many have called for help when they’ve seen dogs in bad situations/neglected and have been told they can’t help or give some excuse. I guess if it’s high profile they’ll step up. They even killed a dog when owner on way to retrieve (non-pit).

That's a nothingburger though, if you're able to legally push the pit bull to extinction, what's stopping you from legally pushing additional breeds to extinction?? There's always someone who will push the envelope, but with 1 or 2 examples it could be effectively shut down.
Fwiw I don't think extinction is the answer, but I think we need significantly increased regulation around breeding dogs in general.
