Likely next German Chancellor "Europe needs to achieve independence from the USA"

“It should be a priority to strengthen Europe as fast as possible so that we gradually achieve independence from the U.S.” Friedrich Merz, the victor of the election and Germany’s likely next chancellor, said on Sunday. “It’s clear that the Americans, at least this American administration, are largely indifferent to the fate of Europe.”
Merz has a lot of work to do to get Germany and the EU back on track. However, I must say that it is about damn nice to hear the leader of Germany realize that they have to defend themselves. The EU's main threat comes from Russia. Russia would struggle with Poland but would could conquer the other countries with ease in a conventional war if the European countries acted independently. However if they act together then they should be to whip Russia with ease in a conventional war. Russia is a large country in size but it only has a population of 150 million. The EU has a population of 450 million. The UK and Ukraine who are not EU members at the moment but would likely side with the EU in a war with Russia brings in another 99 million people. If you add in the UK and Ukraine military to the collective military power of the EU then ground forces and naval forces are also in the EU's favor. If the Europeans would pull their heads out of their arses then the EU + the UK + Ukraine should only need to the USAF and missile defense forces to defend Europe. If Europe gets serious about defense then 10-15 years should be enough time for the EU to build up its air forces and learn how to operate and purchase enough American and Israeli missile defense systems to protect themselves. I do not think that Trump and his successor which is hopefully Vance, DeSantis, or Rubio should tell Europe that they have 10 years to get their shite together before we withdraw our forces from Europe. If they get their shite together we are still pulling out forces out but we will stay in NATO and help defend them but if they do not then we are pulling our forces out and leaving NATO in 10 years.

They won't achieve it by bowing down to immigration tards and free speech deathers

They still sound weak AF, even when they say the right things.

We should close down Germany military bases by the end of the year and move them to Greenland.

When Europe sends all of its actual males to war then the Muslim immigrants will be even more free to rape and murder women and children. Russia is the wrong enemy.

Is Europe the least bit concerned with the fate of America? No. So why should America’s leaders be concerned about the fate of Europe? America should be focused on the fate of America.
So he’s right, but for the wrong reasons.

Yeah. I fully agree.

Well we did destroy their cheap energy pipeline (an act of war against Germany) and their economy so I would hope so. They are pretty cuck now as a vassal state so who knows.

Pipeline was owned by russia no?

I agree.
If “Europe” insists on its continued path of:
- authoritarian “liberal democracy”
- open borders and mass migration,
- cancelled elections
- only “approved” free speech being permitted
-perpetuating hostilities towards Russia in hopes of causing Putin to collapse even if it results in a wider conflict
Then “Europe” needs to do that on its own accord and with its own funding.
Perhaps eventually some formerly sovereign nations within “Europe” will realize they are really no longer independent anyway.

I don't think that's true. It's like saying that, by neglecting their military, Europe has been indifferent to the fate of the US. I hope it's more accurate to say that the US is no longer indifferent to the economic fate of the US. We can't afford to be the primary defender of multiple continents.

And 99% of them are not in any condition or shape to be soldiers not to mention the fact they would never volunteer. You have the worst takes

Merz and the CDU/CSU have shifted a good ways to the right on immigration since Merkel stepped down. They are not as tough on immigration as the AFD but they are a lot tougher than the SPD under Scholtz. Will it be enough?

No. A collection of companies (German, British, swiss etc **) across Europe and it was also a huge benefit to all of the german economy/people.
**And Russian, figured it was given but should still state.

FIFY
Greenland is too far from Europe to provide effective air cover.

Energy is always a benefit no doubt.

Haven't they heard? We are looking to cut government spending by a lot... pulling troops from Germany would cut no telling how many millions annually...
