Is Mark Williams a distressed asset now?

If tweet fails to load, click here. I'm not saying they have to trade him this summer, but it doesn't sound like the best locker room situation. Charlotte was looking for a shooter and I think it's time to move Hawk while he still has some value. Williams is a great rebounder, which Griff admitted a few days ago is one of the team's biggest problems.

He’s played 85 games in 3 years. The Pels training staff would have him in a wheel chair by Christmas

Hawk for Williams and some 2nds works for me.
Everyone knows he’s a distressed asset and will have a short lived career so Charlotte will have to give something with him

If Charlotte is willing to make a deal that doesn’t kill our future then he’d be a great risk/reward guy as the starting center we have lacked since Jonas. We should have just kept him to be honest but our fearless coach refused to play him in favor of Larry Nance Jr. I would give them Hawkins and maybe two 2nds or possibly the Pacers 2026 1st that we got for BI straight up for Williams but that’s pushing it. Even though Zion needs more of a floor spacer around him we have got to have one guy like Jonas so we don’t just bullied like this year. Our starting center didn’t even want to stay in the country after we traded him. This has been a comedy of a year.

Maybe the inverse occurrence happens. Guys that are always healthy come here and end up with catastrophic injuries. Guys that are chronically injured come here abs stay healthy

That on/off is WILD
But I'm ready to move on from Hawkins as long as CJ's next contract is <25mil.

Hawk for Williams and our 25 second back

We aren’t getting additional assets back for Hawkins with his horrible play and his own serious back issues
At least Mark has some good stats here and there
They are both injured, so that part is a wash.

Just to keep this conversation on the rails……he was traded for Knecht, an unprotected future first and an unprotected swap. While I do think the chances of him being re traded remain high after this, the gap between his value and everything above is the size of the Grand Canyon. Knecht alone has more value than Hawkins for starters, in my opinion.

This is true. Knecht alone does have more value. I feel like Hawkins will be used with another player in a trade. I don't know what kind of player you would get for him straight up.

I hear what you're saying, but the Lakers killed the trade after failed physicals for a player who's games played makes Zion look like an iron man. I hadn't realized his games played was so horrific, I'm not sure how interested I am anymore. I'd need to know a lot more about his injury history and why the Lakers failed him.

If we can trade hawk for him, I’d do it in a heartbeat even with his injury history. I just wouldn’t give up any real asset for him

It wasn’t over his back, so it is one or more other injuries that scared the hell out of them.
With big men, that’s usually back or feet.

Holding Hawkins until this summer as a plan B if our lottery goes to shite.

Some people are just built charmin soft and will always have ankle/feet injuries. He’s most likely one of those people. Lakers killed his value, damaged goods.

Williams red flag is that he has a chronic foot issue that will never fully heal he just has to basically manage it for as long as it allows him to play basketball. He won’t have a 15 year career that’s for sure but 7-10 years? Maybe. I think Zion is in the same boat.

you want to trade for an oft injured player to come to our organization, one that is one of the worst, in terms of injuries, in the entire league?
