Saw this on Yahoo Sports
quote:

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Jimmy Butler, Simone Fontecchio, Tim Hardaway Jr., 2025 second-round pick (via DET)

Detroit Pistons Receive: CJ McCollum, Jordan Hawkins, Lakers 2026 second-round pick (via MIA), 2031 second-round pick (more favorable of MIA/IND), 2030 second-round pick (second least favorable of ORL and NOP)

Miami Heat Receive: Brandon Ingram, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl

Not a shot in hell. Detroit gets CJ/ Hawk and extra picks for dumping players???

We would most likely get Ron Holland and 2nds and keep Hawk in this scenario.

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Jimmy Butler, Ron Holland, THJ, (4) 2nds

Detroit Pistons Receive: CJ McCollum

Miami Heat Receive: Brandon Ingram, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl

And it would still be pretty much shite.

Butler is either an expiring contract, or he picks up a $52 million option malcontent that sits on your books and doesn’t play. That by itself is one hell of a dangerous game. But let’s view him as an expiring, then you are giving CJ, BI, Hawkins and JRE for a second round pick? That’s…..not ideal.

He'd probably bully Zion into requesting a trade during the offseason and then decline his option while laughing his arse off.

Butler wants to be somewhere that will pay him big money.

That isn’t us.

That trade would piss me off

Edit: Also, what the hell is Detroit giving up to receive all that?

There's not a single universe where Jimmy Butler agrees to come here

Hard pass. If we were ever going to trade for Butler it should have been at least two years ago.

Jimmy Butler will be a shell of a player in 24 months or less.

Not a single universe where we should even entertain him coming here.

let him sit and then trade him in the summer for better assets. I’d be happy with this trade.

You guys need to be smarter.

He can opt out and we get nothing unless he does a S&T and then the return is minimal

Or he can opt in at 52 million and its IMPOSSIBLE to trade

he’s not opting in to playing here. And the minimal for a S&T for butler will probably be of similar value to trading BI and CJ anyway. Plus you’d keep losing games this season.
