They could have just said "Herb will be re evaluated in 2-3 weeks" and we would know he isn't coming back this year.

This isn't breaking news. He was never coming back this season. Everyone knew Herb needed surgery as soon as he started sitting again. He needs to have it ASAP so he will be ready to go to start next year.

I had labral surgery likely in a similar location. If he has it repaired, he will be out for the rest of this season.

We kinda assumed, but it's obvious that this wasn't Herb's view. I'm sure that he wanted to rehab and come back later this season. I'm glad the team/doctors finally talked him into the surgery.

The tank is on.
No reason for Herb to stick around in a lost season when he could get patched up.
