He’s told versions of this story so many times. He was always going to leave LSU - or wherever - until he scratched that itch. I wish we could have gotten him on the rebound.

This just makes it that much worse. Damnt man.

He would still be coaching at LSU had he never left.

He would have retired the second Bryce Underwood flipped for $13 million, but he would have won us 6 Natty’s beforehand

The right AD would have either kept him at LSU and/or made damn sure that he returned if the Pro's didn't work out.
ALL 100% on CA Bertman. (Skip was as bad an AD as he was great as a baseball coach)
CA=Cheap arse

Well, he did become like Bear Bryant. Same school and all

he did reach out after 2006 through private channels. Why do you think he originally suggested we hire reverend nuttsack? because he knew he would fail and would have an easy entry back to LSU should he fail in the NFL.
the LSU fans were crying saying how can you fire miles! he went 11-2 and 11-2. Well the thing is you can let contract expire, revised it, or had a clause in the original contract saying should saban show interest and we take him back you are terminated. we were not forced to keep miles. skip was still mad at how saban left and was not taking him back. They had a big screaming match before saban left. it is well documented.

May all be true but man, if Saban really felt like he wanted to be Bear Bryant and stayed in college, AT LSU… hard not to dream about where we would’ve gone. Even if he only stayed for 5 more seasons before hopping over to the NFL. I mean his stay at LSU was so short but he complete shifted the trajectory of the program for decades to come with his few short years

Still time to come back!!!

Miles’ contract was longer than 2 years so expiration is out. Both parties have to agree to a revision so that’s out. I don’t know what you think that would entail anyway.
And who the hell would have agreed to such a ridiculous clause. LSU had two options, fire Miles or keep Miles.

That just makes it worse. Just keep pouring salt in the wound and twisting the knife...it feels good.

We had him on the rebound , but Michigan didn’t take Les. It was a dime deal. He planned to leave Alabama after 2007 and return to LSU. Powers at be went over the Michigan offer to keep Les at LSU instead of letting him walk.

Saban entertained nfl jobs every year while he was at LSU. It was a foregone conclusion he was going to jump when the right one came open. Skip got frustrated with it. He said he hired miles partly bc he knew he wouldn’t jump to the nfl or anywhere else.

I don't believe a word that comes out of Nick Saban's mouth. That slime ball can kiss my taint.
