Going to Commander's this weekend for our anniversary and it's our first time. Any recommendations? Really excited to try it out.

If I was ordering, I would do the following:
Shrimp and Tasso Henican
a cup of Turtle soup
Boudin Stuffed Quail
Bread Pudding Soufle for dessert

Or if they have a chef's tasting menu, those are always great. The above are just my favorites.

Most important option It is so damn good.

I've only ever been for their brunch, so can't speak to the dinner menu. The gumbo and turtle soup are both excellent IMO and can't go wrong with either there.

My favorite restaurant in the world.

Turtle soup, no doubt. Or even better, the soups 1-1-1.

Many people like the shrimp & tasso henican as an app

For entree, filet or pork chop.

I personally think the bread pudding souffle is overrated, but most folks rave about it.

I've only been there twice and both times it was for the "Jazz Brunch" and it was nice. The food was excellent and the Bloody Mary's we got were killer.

You're paying as much for the ambience as you are for the food, so soak it all in and have fun.

I'm not able to not order the shrimp and tasso henican.

For an entree, if I decide not to have multiple apps, I usually will order a fish or other seafood dish.

I sometimes vary from the bread pudding depending on what the offers are at the time. We usually share a variety of desserts.

It's been a long time since I've been but the strawberry shortcake is very good there as far as alternates to the bread pudding souffle

It’s very good when Louisiana strawberries are in season.

Try to sit in the main dining room. It’s the best. Soufflé is great. Turtle soup is great. I think they still do the 3 soup appetizer but not sure. Enjoy.

Perfect place for your anniversary. It is my second favorite restaurant in town after Galatoire’s.

Best meal to go to. I feel the dinner menu/food at Commanders is extremely lacking.

Garden Room upstairs is the best dining room in the city.
