Lawsuit against New Orleans regarding NYE incident has some rattled.

Not so much the payout but that discovery will involve exploring how federal grants were spent. All of it will then be an open book with a new US attorney probably watching intently. Misspending federal money can lead to some serious criminal charges.

It's not just New Orleans doing this and it's a massive issue across everything govt related. I've always thought that misspent money are why certain things never get better.

When reached for comment, Mayor Teedy had this to say to federal prosecutors:

It would be beyond amazing if Teddy is finally taken down for misappropriation of federal funds which discovery was based off a fairly incompetent terrorist.

NOLA definitely isn’t worried about the pay out as they simply wont make it.

Well.......
if someone is interested, all that is public record. Seriously.
The feds give you a grant. Guess what? You have to spell out in your grant application for how the money will be used. Then you have to file reports. If you don't comply with the terms of the grant, then the feds can make you repay it as they did Jackson 10 years ago.
Those grants, grant applitcations, grant award letters, etc are all FOIA available.

You don't need discovery to find out stuff like this, it is all public information.

We already had a suicide in Jason Williams’ office…

I can't even imagine the shitshow behind NOLA's city finances. It'll make Chicago look like Ernst and Young.

Reporting what they spent the money on will be somewhat available through a FOIA request but what they actually spent the money on can be unraveled in discovery or and Audit

Yalls officials have been stealing money for decades.
What I find most bothersome is it seems nothing is done when money is stolen in primarily minority cities because the officials are minorities.. They dont charge anyone they just let people resign and roll out.
This doesnt happy with other certain groups. They get put in jail for 20+

I would bet the money was spent and documented correctly.
The problem is the contractors that overcharged for the work and then gave kickbacks to the person who awarded them the work.

Read something over the weekend that was pointing the finger at Mitch for this. Apparently when he was in office, the city received federal grant funds to fix/upgrade many things around the city (including those bollards); then shortly after that happened, they received an undisclosed amount of funds from an anonymous donor to remove several statues around the city. There were questions about the donations as they did not appear to hit the city's financial statements, but no one pushed the issue.

It also has to deal with most of the City contracts not having the most qualified contractor performing the work.
Other issues with a lot of the City contracts are (1) Public Bid Law (State requirement) and having to go with the lowest bidder when awarding contracts and (2) DBEs (City requirement) where most City contracts require a DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise which consists of woman/minority owned business) attached to any contract.

Nah, someone from the feds will also help cover it all up. Everyone elected to government is getting rich by misappropriating funds back to themselves. If the Biden FBI has to clean it up in a couple weeks, they will gladly do so to protect the Dems that run NOLA.

Feds have rules. For example, you have to bid out the work, can't subdivide it among several buddies nor can you issue no bid contracts.
Now you can mess around with the specs to favor a contractor but all that should be spelled out in the grant application.

Gotta get the swamp cleaned out to make room for the next batch of elected thieves.
