pastor(owner) of the church my wife and daughter attend had to step down last year because it was revealed that he sexually molested a 12 year old girl a few years back, no worries, he's worth over $100 million and owns all of the property of the multi campus mega-church
Is this the one in Birmingham?

Here's an idea. If something on a tv broadcast hurts your delicate feelings, DONT frickING WATCH IT! No one is forcing you or your kids to watch the halftime show. These people are just as bad as the 20 gender/pronoun people demanding everyone else bend over to accommodate their own beliefs/desires. frick off with this commie shite.

Probably have to take the car halfway apart to get to it.
It is 100% this. I bet the part costs $40, and the labor is the balance. Tried to help my dad change a water pump on his 2012 X5, you had to remove nearly the entire right strut assembly to get the old pump out and the new one in. There is no way you can convince me they don't design these cars with the intention of you paying for the car 2x over its lifetime getting it fixed.

I have a 50 inch Visio thats pushing 18 years old or so, we moved it for the first time 3 years ago, "we" being me being used to the weight of the newer ones. My god, you could anchor the titanic with that fricking thing! What did they make those things with, Mercury??

Apparently having your mom call in to your office to tell them you aren't coming to work isn't very manly.

This is a sketchy arse crypto mining company that is in the middle of SEC charges for pump and dump schemes. Sucks that the state got bent over a table for these scum bags.

Sound waves from what? Unless the backup generators are running for some reason data centers don't make noise outside of the building.

I know I have read articles dealing directly with college football stadiums, decibel levels and slopes of the stands. There is a sweet spot angle for the most sound amplification that tiger stadium happens to be about the closest too. Too shallow, and all the sound goes up and out, a la the big house (lets be honest though, those pansies don't know how to make noise anyway), and too steep actually has a muffling effect a la Neyland stadium. I could be wrong on this, not a sound engineer, but it made sense to me at the time.

Tell me you don't read the quarterly reports without telling me you don't read the quarterly reports.
The company took in $40.58 Billion in the last QUARTER, a 19% increase year over year, $15.6 Billion of which was profit, a 35% increase year over year. Thats in a THREE MONTH SPAN.
I know people love to just spout off on something they think they know but come on, you can't actually be that stupid as to think a company building a $10billion data center is going to be bought out in the next five years. Maybe do a quick google search next time.
re: Is it more difficult to become an airline pilot or a fighter pilot?
Posted by the4thgen on 12/5/24 at 3:17 pm to RockinRobin1955
I don't think you have much of a shot at a seat in a fighter if you dont go through Air Force/Naval academy.
The CFP committee only cares about how many people will watch the playoffs. That means they will always prioritize a 3 loss bama team over a two loss miami team that cant even fill their own stadium. They have unlimited ability to explain away these choices in a football point of view with the real trump card being "the eye test". They don't give two shits about who is most deserving, they only care about the $$$.
re: What’s the point of the lug nuts that get swollen
Posted by the4thgen on 12/2/24 at 2:26 pm to grizzlylongcut
I thought discount tire was really trying to pull one over on me when they came in and said i needed $150 in new lug nuts and was ready to tell them to kiss my arse but the guy went and got the wrench in my tire changing kit and showed me that they wouldnt fit anymore on probably 60-70% of all of the lugnuts so now I wont be stuck on the road I guess. Yes, another 16 F150.

I used to rent cars a lot for work travel, and learned this a long time ago. Had a rental recently and forgot to look before I got out and felt like a such a dumbass for not checking first.

Understatement of the year. I am truly shocked at the level of unbridled stupidity this guy operates under. It makes zero sense based on a basic review of his background/history.
This is the epitome of the two faced girl episode of Seinfeld. The camera can do her many favors and the camera can be absolutely ruthless to her. Tough scene. Overall not a great score though, 3.8 range for me.
I will throw myself under the bus for one. I got a slingshot for my 10th or so birthday, and we had a side area to park a boat on made of gravel. I ran out of the little metal shots a few days in and started picking up gravel out of that parking spot and letting those fly. Then I decided to fire a few straight up into the air. With the odd shapes of the gravel, none of them ever flew very straight, and one in particular peeled away over towards the roof of the house. At that time, there were some fairly large skylights over the kitchen, and that errant vertical gravel came down right in the middle of one of them, completely spidering the tempered glass. Didn't think much of it at the moment assuming it hit the shingled area. When I went inside, my Dad had 100% assumed "act of god" and didn't even fathom the idea it was me. I could have 1000% gone with it and said "wow how did that happen" but even in that moment I knew I couldn't live with that one. Fessed up, dad took the slingshot and cut it into pieces in front of me, the belt came out, etc.

No, same one, they just announced who the owner is that is building it.
What is it rubbing on? If its only one tire its usually just the wheel well liner. It should be pretty easy to just go in an trim your wheel well liner to not rub on the tire when it is turned all the way.

I had forgotten about it in my distant core memories of that series in that era but watching the doc it brought back up how shocked I was with that move. That was peak MLB fandom for me in those years.

Can't imagine what all the thought process is to get to that point but I think the idea of talking to someone about it when you get to the point of actually taking your own life doesn't make sense to that person anymore. My godfather took his life a few years ago. He had obviously planned it long in advance, and had been depressed for much longer than that, although there was absolutely zero outward sign of an issue. He lived a couple of hours away and when my dad and I drove over the next day, the amount of planning he had done was insane. He had every single financial document labeled, packaged, and laid out in his bedroom for his wife and kids (all adults), handwritten letters to not only all of his family but to hoards of friends, gifts for many of them, detailed wishlist of what he wanted for his funeral, the list goes on. In this guy's case, I think he had settled on this long ago and found comfort in the fact that he was going to do it and was going to do his best to still try and take care of everyone. By pure happenstance, I actually called him about work stuff the morning of the day he killed himself, and it was very spooky in retrospect how upbeat and happy he was on that call that day. At certain times he was kind of hard to talk to and I wonder if that didn't coincide him feeling more or less depressed.

Indeed, logic would dictate this thought process, but logic seems to be shockingly easily sidestepped by government officials these days. Landy himself seems to be devoid of logic so far.
