Fantastic little Christmas movie. Never gets mentioned when talking about holiday movies.

On Netflix.

It’s a great Christmas movie tbh. I watch just about every year.

Because he picked his financial future over her. She moved on while he was in London, so did he.

Plus, to get a job like he had you have to work 100 hours a week. Not very conducive to keeping someone like her. You can bang someone "hotter" sure. But not someone you want to marry.

Great movie. Bumble into it every year at Christmas and stop down to watch the whole thing over again. Cage and Leoni are excellent.

That part didn't bother me when I was young but now that I have a kid it's a surprisingly serious gut punch.

I forget that was a Christmas movie. Rarely seems to get mentioned among the other holiday films on here. Quality movie.

Talk about missing the point of the movie.

The movie honestly passes relatively minimal judgement on his corporate life in fact when we first meet him he’s remarkably happy.

In fact in one of his conversations with Kate he says that his life was simply “different”, not worse but different

Additionally it spells out why he can’t have “both” simultaneously in his glimpse life. His alt life is happy because they chose to be near Kate’s family. They CHOSE to not expose their kids to the city which has its pluses but also big negatives. They chose to not have him commute 3 hours a day and instead be home with his family.

They valued different things.

Will Kate and Jack meet somewhere in the middle in his future, maybe. Certainly left open and presumably with his new found appreciation he will adjust his lifestyle to do so

I thought it was a good movie when I was younger. After having kids, it destroys me. Especially when his daughter says “I knew you would come back” when he’s playing with her in the snow.

Then when he’s chasing his wife at the terminal at the end, when he’s talking about when his son smiles and he chokes up talking about it, I get teary eyed. It’s such a good movie

Every year around Christmas we send the kids to my parents and watch this. It’s a good movie and I like the mood it puts my wife in.
