$852B, according to the US Senate Appropriations Committee passed bill in August.

Should it be cut?

Should it be increased?

Why?

I think every military contract should be reevaluated and put out for bid again.

You hear stories of the military spending 10s of thousands for bags of fricking wing nuts for planes.

That’s insane.

I don’t think we should scale our military down but clearly there is massive fraud and grift going on.

China would like it to be cut.

It needs to be increased... BUT

We need to cut all DEI out. Fire everyone in a DEI role, dishonorable discharge

Cut programs that don't work.

Then increase weapon, aircraft, and ship production.

Military is a use it or lose it budget. Equipment, supply and training only gets more expensive. I personally don’t like how many govt contractors there are these days and most of them could be cut. There is so much non military govt programs that should be cut first.

It needs to be reformed. No more Cost Plus conracts. Fire or reassign all the people in defense procurement who are associated with defense contractors. Have everyone in defense procurement clean out their portfolio of defense related stocks apart from those held in well diversified index funds. Have anyone in a government procurement role file a short financial disclosure document annually when they file their taxes. Folks making 150K a year, who suddently fall into 500K in assests in one year better be able to explain how that money got there. End all lobbying by the defense industry. Seek competition from other countries - as the Navy did when they purchased the latest frigates from Italy. Build drone vs manned systems. .

Increased. Navy alone needs major work to fleet.

Our military manufacturing capacity is way behind. Ukraine exposed how weak it is.

The military budget should be cut by the exact amount the Pentagon cannot account for in their audits over the past seven years. That should shed some light on a lot of things.

Let DOGE walk through there. They'll cut 50% of the redundant bullshite immediately. Then restructure it to be efficient. Let's go to work.

It's more than this, but this was the point I came to make. They can't even keep track of what they get, so hell yeah, it needs to be reduced until they get their shite together and account for all this money.

Sigh.

You do know military retirement pay, dependent medical care and other non-military projects come from the DoD budget, right?

It's not all spent on bombs, missiles, guns, tanks, planes and ships.
