I was on a train yesterday from Washington DC to Springfield for work

And there was this gorgeous Thai woman sitting across from me. She was reading a James Patterson book and we chatted about her favorite Patterson book.
She got off in Newark and I forgot to ask her for her number. Did I make a mistake by not asking her out to grab ramen? What’s the OT protocol for shooting your shot here?

You should spend the next three years of your life riding the trains until you meet up again, marry her, have 3 kids and a dog and then lose kids and house in the divorce and keep half a dog. ??

I wonder what industry you work in, that whole scene sounds like a setup exercise for IP/classified info theft. People in DC never know when to STFU about projects they're working on, etc., in public.

Well this probably didn't happen
But any time I've ridden the train down to New Orleans I feel like I'm on a modern day Pony Express with a bunch of drug mules traveling south from Chicago. So just tell yourself she had a bunch of narcotic filled balloons in her stomach and would've quickly turned down the offer. She had to hurry on her way to meet some Yakuza associates at a seedy motel and take a bunch of laxatives. you're feelin better already right ?

I've been away from the DC area for over 10 years now, and checked the VRE map, Newark? I'm very familiar with the one in NJ, but never heard of one in VA.

Did you ask your wife how she feels about it?

There’s a Springfield just south of the pentagon and it’s full of Thai women. Not giving the state is confusing people.

Life is too short to not shoot your shot

Yakuza get a bad rep. They’re actually the polar opposite of what most folks imagine. Things are just overall classier in Japan. They obviously won’t tell you they’re yakuza, but there are signs.
