It comes from cuts in the state programs that are a drag on everybody that pays taxes!!

A vastly expanded sales tax.

Do the working poor pay any state income tax?
Posted on 11/12/24 at 3:49 pm to stout
Hate to break it to you guys but this won't pass the LA senate.
Landry will claim it wasn't his fault, take the credit, nothing will change, business as usual.
If I'm wrong, I'll happily take it on the chin with my new golden jaw. But I want to be realistic.

Plot twist...if they arent "paying" their $1k year in income tax, they can't get their $5k "tax credit" when they file.

Just looked it up knew most workers rate was 4.25%
Tax Bracket Tax Rate
$0.00+ 1.85%
$12,500.00+ 3.5%
$50,000.00+ 4.25%
Now, what would piss me off is if they cut income tax rate to 3% then up the sales tax 2%. Would be a Louisiana thing to do.

Here is the bill. If I am reading it correctly, there is a 3% tax on net income. There is a $12,500 standard deduction. So I am assuming the definition of working poor is anyone making less than $12,500.
