Remember when people freaked the frick out over Nuss sitting out a meaningless bowl game and calling him selfish etc (I think most people understood though)

Now everyone should be thankful as frick for that wisdom

we weren't beating Kansas St with the depleted roster we had no matter who was at QB
that was a terrible football team
you have to go back to Hallman days to find a team that inept

That’s only true if he comes back for 2025.

He saved himself a year of eligibility and helped get a rule change that made what he did unnecessary in the future.

I don't remember having an issue with it then. I definitely don't have an issue with it in hindsight.

I had an issue with it but, alas, those days are over.

You just can’t expect the players to choose team over personal situation.

I could point out that Nuss could have redshirted last year just as easily if that was really the concern but the point is really moot.

It was best for both for him to redshirt. In no way did it make sense to burn the redshirt to play in a game with 40 scholarship players. You are always 1 hit away from being the starter. We literally had 2 straight years of not being able to keep people healthy at qb.

He was one snap vs A&M from redshirting the following year when Jaydens helmet came off. If he plays in the bowl game then Howard takes that 1 snap and Nuss still redshirts and we're in the exact same spot we are now. Only difference was that Nuss could've played lights out in that bowl game and gotten some momentum heading into the off-season and maybe prevents JD5 from ever transferring here and earns himself a starting job earlier

There was a silver ling though. The NCAA changed the rule the following season for redshirts to be eligible for bowl games. I am sure there was more than Nuss in that situation but he was one of the high profile issues.

It was sickening watching K-State players and fans acting like they were beating the 2019 LSU team...I really want a rematch with them with a fully loaded roster...

Screw it and move on.

Not really. Him having the option to come back in 2025 means a lot.

This board heaped disdain on Nuss just a couple of weeks earlier after that loss the Arkansas (for which he came in relief of an ineffective and supposedly injured Max Johnson). And yet he was lambasted as "selfish" for skipping a meaningless bowl game

It was a win/win for both parties.
How different do you think the program would be if he played and we won?

Or if he played and we still lost?
I’d rather have the option of him coming back for 2025
vs
Winning/Still Losing a bowl game

How does his having the option to return help LSU if he does not actually do so?

So in December 2021, he's supposed to know that he won't be the starter in the 2023 football season?

Interesting argument.
