Will Brian Kelly win a NC at LSU?

I like Kelly…for the most part. I read where many people think ‘25 is the year. But realistically can Kelly win an NC? Also, Are there a couple of OL in the pipeline as good as Campbell & Jones?

Of course he can, but the planets must align.

If he can’t he doesn’t deserve to be in the hall of fame, Les and O were able to win here

Who knows but I like his chances better than I did Ed Orgeron or Les Miles and look what they did

He’ll have a prime opportunity to with Bryce Underwood for three years and this coaching staff.

Yes, 2026 or 2027 with Underwood will both be great opportunities.

Based on his resume in big games, I’m going to say no.

No. He was the perfect “bridge” hire for the program after what O left. But his main issue has been getting the correct read on his team. Season opening flops when he admittedly thought his team was more prepared are worrisome. He will recruit well, not elite, and keep us in the hunt but something will always be missing in taking that next step.

It isn't that simple. Both Les and O had more luck on their side than anything the specifically did. O never wins if they don't luck into Joe Burrow and Les if not for the crazy happenings of the 2007 season.

Nope… high floor low ceiling guy.

You could argue Les would have two titles if it wasn’t for some unlucky draw of having to face Bama again in that BCS format. Works both ways.

He can, but so much has to go right, it is very tough to do. We as LSU fans have gotten spoiled, I don't think it happens for him

Not with a 12-team playoff. He’s never shown he can put it all together. Something (offense, defense, or special teams) is always missing. He is t some QB guru either.

Kelly is behind in recruiting elite talent on defense. This is year 3 and the defense still has a lack luster roster. We will see if Baker can coach them up but size, speed, and experience is lacking in almost every position group with a few outliers.
If we cannot consistently bring in ELITE talent @ DT, LB, S, & CB we will float at 9-10 wins until his contract is up.
Luckily, Kelly has proven to pull in key players on Offense but this year he has a large “unproven” hill to climb. It’s safer to assume our defense will not keep us in games unless the freshmen are instant impact players on DL & DB. It very well could happen but although not likely.
My biggest gripe with Kelly has been the undersized DBs. After three years why can’t we develop their bodies to be formidable tacklers at the least. As an armchair coach it would seem they lack both size and fundamentals. This USC game is going to challenge our back 7 in a big way, I hope they are ready.

He can definitely win one. Will be? No idea.

80% depends on how much NIL we can consistently raise. TALENT wins titles, IMO.
