Do you sleep with tv on?

Husband and I are at odds on this. He’d happily sleep with the tv on but I need it dark and quiet.
The compromise is that he watches for a bit and makes sure to turn it off before he goes to sleep.
It did make me wonder how common this is. Where do you stand?

Sleeping when its pitch black is just so much better, never got the people who need the bright arse TV to be on

I need it on to fall asleep. Psychologist say it's common in people with unresolved childhood trauma /shrug

No.
Most TV's have a sleep timer you can use.

Used to drive me crazy that my wife wanted to watch tv. We compromised, I bought her a tablet and she reads/listens online, so no TV.

I do when I stay in hotels for some odd reason, but definitely not in my bedroom at home. It drives my wife crazy.... but now we mainly get air bnbs.... so I oddly enjoy doing it when I travel alone for buisness

Nope. I like it dark, cool and no noise but the ceiling fan.

yes to fall asleep with a timer set to turn off eventually

A television in the bedroom is trashy.

Yes, but no audio. I actually put in silicone ear plugs to drown out any louder background noise, but I can still hear alarms if needed. It makes no sense, but I feel more relaxed with the TV on. I wear blue light blocking glasses too.
Health experts will recommend sleeping in the dark.
I believe whatever routine works to help relax is most important. And then sticking to that bedtime routine.

No TV on in bed. Remember my neuroscience teacher in college saying you should use the bed for two things: sleep and sex. Doing things like TV and reading in bed wires your brain to associate non sleep activities with being in bed and can make it harder to shut off your brain when actually trying to sleep.

I can’t turn my brain off to not focus on the tv and its sounds

blackout curtains are the best. i still use them with my tv on.
sleep timers can be helpful. once i know i can sleep i like to wear a sleep mask or throw clothing over my eyes.

My wife won’t allow a bedroom TV and I think it’s healthier. She has the gift of being able to fall asleep 2 minutes after laying down though. I’ll put a podcast on playing with low volume to lull me to sleep.

You know you can adjust the brightness right?

That sounds like a joke. But if not, it's just another reason why those motherfrickers do more harm than good to society.
