You sound like a blast.
I am. I just don’t give a frick about some kids bday party. When we have parties it’s for my family or we have the kids dropped over at my house. frick going to a bowling lane, bounce place, laser tag. All that shite is trash and sucks anyway.

Not sure if you know this, but parent doesn’t need to attend.

I'm having my son a fishing rodeo in our smaller 1 acre pond for his 5th birthday, and will clean the catfish on site for them to take home.
I figure at least the folks will have something to take home since my wife has summoned them to a party.

Stop this nonsense. I don’t want to give up my Saturday afternoon for your kid. Let’s stop this charade. Have a little family party with your immediate family.
That is how my kid had his birthday parties. Family members, cake and ice cream and then birthday presents.
I can proudly say as an adult I've never been to one of those silly "Theme Parties" for a kid who likely won't even remember it the next day since they are so young.

We had my daughter’s birthday at Urban South Brewery. Was completely
Worth it. Most of the parents showed up with husbands and wives both attending due to the location. Was only $500 and it was well worth it all things considered. Every parent had a few free beers and a good time.

This should be a requirement.

Our kid’s party 2-4 at the house.
Turns to adults party 4-until.
We’ve done this a a few times and it’s fun.

Drove an hour, one-way, yesterday to a 3 y/o's bday party at a bowling alley.

No, at one of those dumb arse commercial places that rape the parents anyway.
My kids are past that age but when they were we just dropped off/picked up from those.

Related - what’s with parents not having their kids open their gifts at the party anymore? I’ve been to 2 or 3 lately where we’ve brought a gift, the gift has been stashed to the side with all the others, and the mom says they’re gonna wait til they get home to open them. These are 4-6 year olds
Been to a dozen or so parties these past few years. When you have the party at a public place, you have an allotted time to be there. Opening presents can take forever, and all of the kids automatically want to force the bday kid to open there’s, they all want to play w every toy, no matter how hard you try to control the madness 1/2 the toys end up open, and at the end you’re looking for all the parts and pieces
Parties at kids houses, they start ripping into the presents after cake and just add to the chaos that is already there

Just don’t take them to all. Usually we know who their good buddies are. Go to those and decline the rest.

When did it become common for parents to come with their kids to birthday parties? I know I'm an old fart but my Mom dropped me off with a gift and came back and got me when it was over to every one I ever went to.

The best birthday party we ever had was at the bowling alley. It was very inexpensive, nicely hosted, and no clean up afterwards.
The worst party we ever had was at Build-A-Bear. Fifteen years later, my a-hole still hurts from them fricking me.
