Well this list is for college graduates......

Trades are absolutely important. You are right, to hell with doctors and engineers, we don't need em!

My ex brother in law got his PhD in Art History and couldn't find a job anywhere making more than $40K. Went back to school for a few more years and became a RN and now does travel nursing.

My Poli Sci degree is looking pretty good! At least I'm not a space engineer.

Highly specialized and not a lot of jobs out there that can’t be filled by a regular mechanical engineer

Crossfitters, Atheists, people in trades. If you don't know that about them, they will definitely tell you

I’d argue liberal arts, fine arts, nor art history have a worthwhile career opportunity after college especially considering how much they would have paid for their degrees.
I’d guess they’re overvaluing their “training”. Hell any job that pays those three majors is probably overpaying
A bunch of those people go to law school or go work for the family business so they end up getting paid despite the relatively useless undergrad degrees. Hell if you know you are going to law school (and aren't specializing in patent law or tax law or something like that) or are already set up with a management job in the family business, you might as well take a chill/easy undergrad degree with classes with loose liberal college chicks.

And that on average a person with an English degree, no matter their job, earns more than the average plumber (but not by much because plumbing is a good job and requires a skill and training).
The information I provided is from the bureau of labor statistics.
Hope that helps.
Most of my friends who were English majors are all lawyers right now.
That said, most of my friends who were plumbers are all self employed and bringing in the same as the lawyers.

Check in with them about 10 years into retirement and see who is living and the beach and who is still making payments on a side by side and pontoon boat

I was liberal arts, but my concentration was Marketing and Advertising. I'm doing quite well with that. I can see how others are tanking though.

When you say upstream vs downstream, are you referring to the field vs. refining?

upstream vs downstream...field vs refining
Basically, yes.
Upstream would be exploration, and production.
Downstream is processing and distribution.
Petrochemical is basically considered downstream because feedstock is hydrocarbons.
Midstream is pipelines.

There is zero reason for any university to have degree programs in Fine Arts. Dismantling the technical college system in favor of a community college system was the single worst decision Louisiana made in the 21st century. I am a proud alumnus of the Automotive Technology program. The motto on the door of the Hammond campus-
